84 million grant program administered by the California Department of Aging (CDA) to support in-center congregate services for at-risk older adults and people with disabilities. The program offers funding for providers of day services to address infection prevention and workforce shortages.

Local Aging & Disability Planning Grant – Round 2 CDA will award grants to communities to plan and develop local age and disability-friendly action plans. The plans developed under this grant program aim to improve a community’s livability and address the current, emerging, and future needs of California’s older adults, people with disabilities, and caregivers through cross-sector collaboration and transformational systems change.

This is the second round of application requests for the LADAP grant program. The California GROWs (CalGrows) initiative is CDA’s Direct Care Workforce Training and Stipends Program that will incentivize, support, and fund career pathways for the Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) workforce (non-IHSS).

CalGrows seeks to provide the foundation for many positive outcomes in HCBS, including increased skills, satisfaction, retention, and career development opportunities for direct care workers. CDA in partnership with seven licensed Alzheimer's Day Programs and Adult Day Health Care centers and an evaluation contractor, is creating a modernized Alzheimer’s community care model.

The Cal-COMPASS pilot will serve as a learning laboratory through which to further develop best practices to prevent or delay institutionalization of persons living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias, support caregivers, and advance health equity.
