Grants - Applying for a Grant - Rachel Barton Pine Foundation Our Founder, Rachel Barton Pine Donating an Instrument or Bow Lending an Instrument or Bow Applying for an Instrument or Bow Instrument & Bow Care Guidelines Expectations of Recipients Expense Reimbursement Requests Rachel Barton Pine Foundation / Grants / Applying for a Grant Gabriel Cabezas, Grants for Education and Career recipient The Rachel Barton Pine (RBP) Foundation’s Grants for Education and Career help cover such expenses as fees for supplemental lessons, entrance fees to competitions, audition recording sessions, travel expenses for lessons or competitions or auditions, sheet music purchase, piano accompanist fees, and instrument repair and maintenance.

Typical awards are $500-$1500. The RBP Foundation does NOT provide support for the private purchase of instruments, nor do we provide support for tuition costs for lessons at music schools or summer music programs.

Criteria for Determining Awards Applications are accepted from young classical players of bowed string instruments (violin, viola, cello, bass, baroque violin, baroque viola, baroque cello, viola da gamba) between the ages of 10 and 29 of any gender, race, ethnicity, or country of origin. Grants are given on the basis of musical talent and accomplishment, artistic aspirations, financial need, and the availability of funds.

The RBP Foundation reviews grant applications once a year. Applications must be received by December 1 st ; you will be notified by January 5 th . Awardees are welcome to reapply in subsequent years.
