These grants follow last week’s release of a new Eisner Foundation/Generations United report on intergenerational shared sites, which demonstrated the large benefits of and need for sites that bring old and young together on a consistent basis. ” EngAGE received $150,000 in program support to improve quality of life programs for more than 750 children and 750 low-income seniors through intergenerational arts and mentoring collaborations between affordable senior housing residents and schools in Southern California.

House of Ruth was awarded $100,000 in general operating support to increase outreach and retention of senior volunteers to strengthen organizational infrastructure to serve 12,000 domestic violence victims. The Los Angeles County Museum of Art was granted $50,000 in program support for Arts for NexGen to help bolster intergenerational engagement for families across the region.

The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association received $100,000 in program support for Youth Orchestra LA, which serves 1,025 children in South L. A. , East L.

A. , the Rampart District, and Westlake. Partners for Children South L.

A. was granted $100,000 over two years in program support for the Kinship Project, which impacts 120 relative caregivers and their children in South L. A.

Sages & Seekers was awarded $25,000 in capacity-building support to pair seniors with high school students in an eight-week program designed to strengthen communities. The Mayor’s Fund for Los Angeles received $150,000 in program support for Summer Night Lights, which provides free activities and food in parks across Los Angeles throughout the summer to bring communities together.

Finally, ONEgeneration was awarded $250,000 to support their recently-announced merger with Grandparents As Parents. Both organizations are longtime grantees of The Eisner Foundation. This grant includes infrastructure upgrades and general operating support as the two organizations combine their operations.
