Grants & Fellowships - PeDRA PeDRA Grants and Fellowships Program Grants and Fellowships Guidelines Communication Guidelines Childhood Eczema Challenge Grant Deadline: August 14, 2026 Pediatric Alopecia Areata Challenge Grant Deadline: September 17, 2026 PeDRA PHACE-LUMBAR Challenge Grant Deadline: September 17, 2026 Deadline: September 17, 2026 William Weston Career Development Award Deadline: September 17, 2026 Emerging Investigator Research Grants Program Deadline: October 22, 2026 Career Bridge Research Grant Driven by PeDRA’s commitment to support both research and researchers in the field of pediatric dermatology, the Career Bridge Research Grant provides protected research time and resources for a mid-career clinician scientist to navigate the challenging mid-career phase and give them the potential to obtain larger-scale, longer-term funding from the NIH or other agencies.

Childhood Eczema Challenge Grant PeDRA and the National Eczema Association (NEA) collaborate to support targeted clinical research investigations focused on pediatric eczema with the Childhood Eczema Challenge Grant. Through this grant NEA and PeDRA intend to accelerate research that improves the health and quality of life of pediatric eczema patients and their families.

To address the need for evidence-based, consensus-driven recommendations to inform decision making in the field of pediatric dermatology, PeDRA Consensus Grants provide support for the creation of consensus guidelines, best practice recommendations, or consensus treatment plans for the treatment of diseases and conditions in the field of pediatric dermatology.

Emerging Investigator Research Grants Program The Emerging Investigator Research Grants (EIRG) program supports short-term (12-week maximum) mentored research experiences for medical students and pediatric residents to conduct projects relevant to pediatric dermatology.

Pediatric Alopecia Areata Challenge Grant PeDRA and the National Alopecia Areata Foundation (NAAF) collaborate to support research investigations focused on pediatric alopecia areata with the Pediatric Alopecia Areata Challenge Grant. Through this grant, NAAF and PeDRA intend to accelerate research that improves the lives of pediatric alopecia areata patients and their families.

Pediatric Hidradenitis Suppurativa Challenge Grant In collaboration, PeDRA, HS Connect, and the HS Foundation offer the Pediatric Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS) Challenge Grant to support an early- to mid-career investigator in conducting a one-year, patient-centered research project focused on a high-priority topic addressing the needs of children and adolescents living with HS.

Pediatric Ichthyosis Challenge Grant PeDRA and the Foundation for Ichthyosis and Related Skin Types (FIRST) collaborate to support research investigations focused on pediatric ichthyosis and related skin types. Through this grant, FIRST and PeDRA intend to advance a high-impact research endeavor relevant to pediatric patients and families facing the burden of ichthyosis and related conditions.

Pediatric Ichthyosis Challenge Grant PeDRA PHACE-LUMBAR Challenge Grant PeDRA and the PHACE Syndrome Community collaborate to support research investigations focused on PHACE and/or LUMBAR syndromes. This grant aims to fund clinical research that improves diagnostic approaches, enhances quality of life, and addresses key aspects of disease burden and management.

PeDRA Research Grants are intended to provide financial support for early-stage studies that are unlikely to be funded elsewhere. Ultimately, these grants are expected to generate data, establish research infrastructure, and foster investigators and collaborations that form the basis for larger scale future studies with a high impact on patient lives.

Research Fellowships Program Research Fellowships provide funding for one year of mentored research experience for medical students or recent graduates interested in pediatric dermatology and working under the guidance of an established PeDRA Member. The goal of this program is to support the development of the next generation of physician scientists in the field while also advancing important research projects.

Rheum for Kids: Pediatric Skin and Joint Grant PeDRA and the Arthritis National Research Foundation (ANRF) have joined together to dedicate grant funding for early career researchers looking to make impacts in pediatric skin and joint disease research. The goal is to advance high-impact research endeavors by cultivating cross-disciplinary research teams spanning pediatric dermatology and pediatric rheumatology.

William Weston Career Development Award Run in partnership with the Society for Pediatric Dermatology, the Weston CDA is intended to provide protected research time, resources, and expert mentorship for an early career clinician scientist. Ultimately, the goal is to position the recipient for a long-term career in the field with the potential to obtain funding from other agencies.
