students to support research related to petroleum, energy-mineral resources, and environmental geology. This program is on hold for 2026 but is expected to return in 2027.

The AAPG Foundation promotes the geosciences by distributing technological information, recognizing outstanding achievements, and funding grants, publications, and other initiatives that support data preservation and the advancement of the profession.

We are a separate entity from AAPG but closely aligned with its mission — and through the generosity of our donors, we are able to make an enormous difference in the geosciences, impacting students, educators, professionals, and the public at large.

AAPG Foundation Honors Eight Students with 2026 Military Veterans Geoscience Scholarships As the United States marks its 250th birthday on Independence Day this week, the Trustees of the AAPG Foundation are honoring the men and women who serve in the U.S. Armed Forces—and their families—by announcing the recipients of the 2026 Deana and Paul Strunk Military Veterans Geoscience Scholarship Program.

Each of the eight recipients will receive a $10,000 scholarship to support their undergraduate geoscience studies. Donor support powers a range of programs across the geoscience community. Financial assistance for graduate students in M.

S. and Ph. D.

programs with thesis research in petroleum, energy minerals, or environmental geology. One-time $3,000 grants for undergraduate geoscience students to participate in essential field training experiences. Military Veterans Geoscience Scholarship Program $5,000-$10,000 awards for active U.S. military service members and honorably discharged veterans pursuing geoscience degrees.

Inspirational Geoscience Educator Award $10,000 awards honoring outstanding geoscience educators at both the college/university and K-12 levels. AAPG Foundation initiatives promote Earth Science Curriculum in K-12 classrooms, send distinguished lecturers on tour throughout the world, coordinate college campus visits by professional geoscientists, and more. AAPG is one of the top petroleum geoscience publishers in the world.

Through the Foundation, we fund university subscriptions to numerous geology publications and support the peer-reviewed AAPG Bulletin. Your support creates real, lasting impact for the next generation of geoscientists. 100% of your contribution goes to the programs you designate.
