2026 Grant Opportunities — Topeka Community Foundation Topeka Community Foundation Grant Resources Click to View + Apply for All Grants The Greater Topeka Fund grant supports nonprofits that serve Topeka and Shawnee County by funding projects that address community needs and promote social and economic prosperity.
Grants of up to $10,000 are available, with priority given to proposals that clearly outline a compelling need and include a detailed, itemized budget. Better Together grants by the Topeka Community Foundation support nonprofits in Shawnee County working on innovative solutions to improve social determinants of health, such as housing, education, and mental health.
Grants are tailored to fit the scope and needs of each initiative, with an emphasis on bold ideas that create lasting community impact. Organizations are encouraged to consult with the Foundation’s Director of Strategic Initiatives, Alicia VanWalleghem , to discuss their proposals before applying.
The Women’s Fund supports innovative, one-year projects that improve the lives of women and children in Shawnee County, focusing on areas such as financial literacy, STEAM education, health and mental health, affordable housing, and access to healthy food. Grants of up to $10,000 are awarded based on alignment with the Fund’s mission, project clarity, impact, and accountability.
The Healthy Lifestyles grant provide up to $20,000 per year for two years to support programs that improve health habits and behaviors in the Kansas counties of: Douglas, Lyon, Jackson, Jefferson, Nemaha, Osage, Pottawatomie, Riley, and Wabaunsee The Prescription Assistance grant aims to assist nonprofits working to reduce financial barriers to obtaining prescription drugs.
Funding from this grant will be used to provide direct financial assistance for prescriptions, outreach to identify eligible individuals, and coordination with local pharmacies and healthcare providers to maximize impact. The ultimate goal is to improve health outcomes, reduce preventable hospitalizations, and promote equitable access to medication for those most in need across Shawnee County.

Building Families Fund is a designated fund of the Topeka Community Foundation established to provide financial assistance to benefit individuals and couples desiring to complete domestic and international adoptions.
Successful grant applications will receive a grant for a portion of verified adoption costs, including but not limited to the agency fee, orphanage donation, a homestudy and reasonable travel. Personal items including but not limited to physical exams necessary for adoption, postage, photocopying, and gifts to the birth mother will be excluded from the total of adoption costs.
Income tables in accordance with the IRS regulations allowing for an adoption deduction will be followed to determine if less grant money will be awarded. Grants will be sent directly to the agency facilitating the adoption. Applications are reviewed in May and November.

Scholarship is available to professionals in the following counties: Shawnee, Douglas, Lyon, Jackson, Jefferson, Nemaha, Osage, Pottawatomie, Riley and Wabaunsee.
See application for more details: Application University of Kansas St. Francis Campus Continuing Education Scholarship These scholarships are available for any current University of Kansas Health System St. Francis Campus physician, nurse or other healthcare-specific employee who will be attending a conference, meeting or class that will then result in continuing education credits applicable to their current position.
Scholarships are not applicable for classes that will result in a degree.
