The StrongerBC future skills grant can help you build skills for good jobs in growing industries. It supports B. C.

’s Look West Strategy by making short-term training more accessible for people across the province. If you live in B. C.

and are 19 or older, you may be able to get up to $3,500 for eligible short-term training. This funding can make it easier to take the next step toward work, career growth or a new opportunity. Since fall 2023, the grant has helped more than 16,500 people take training for jobs in areas such as health care, construction and mining.

This grant may be a good fit if you want to: Build skills that can help you move up in your career Train for a new job in a growing field Gain skills to re-enter the labour market Take flexible training that fits your life Complete shorter training while working or managing other responsibilities Access training if opportunities have felt out of reach Learn practical, job-ready skills The grant focuses on short-term training linked to B.

C. ’s Look West Strategy and sectors where skilled workers are needed, including: Life Sciences & Health Technology Trade, Transportation & Logistics Check the eligibility criteria to see if this grant could help you. The grant is available to eligible B.

C. residents, regardless of your income. You may get up to $3,500 for eligible short-term training at a public post-secondary school in B.

C. Checklist to determine learner eligibility criteria Step 1 Set up your BC Services Card Account You’ll need an active BC Services Card Account to access the future skills grant portal and check if you qualify. Setting up your account can take a little time.

It’s a good idea to do this before you're ready to apply. Once you have set up your account, you can choose a program. Set up a BC Services Card Account Step 2 Choose your training Explore programs and training that match your goals and interests.

Once you have found a program that you are interested in applying to, register by clicking the ‘Apply Now’ button on the program page through EducationPlannerBC, or contact the post-secondary institution directly. Be sure to inform the institution that you intend to apply for the StrongerBC future skills grant toward your choice of program. After you register, the post-secondary institution will review your application.

They may contact you with next steps or timelines. Acceptance rules and cancellation policies vary by post-secondary institution. If you have questions about your program application, contact the post-secondary institution.

Step 3 Apply for the StrongerBC future skills grant online using your BC Services Card Account Apply for the grant through the online portal using your BC Services Card Account. Check your email regularly and the portal for updates. The post-secondary institution is responsible for confirming your enrolment and managing funding claims.
