Great Lakes Region Bay Watershed Education and Training (B-WET) | Office of National Marine Sanctuaries Great Lakes Bay Watershed Education and Training (B-WET) The Great Lakes B-WET program anticipates a funding opportunity will be available in 2026. Applicants must register with three different Federal systems before submitting an application. First, obtain an active account with SAM.
gov and a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI). After you obtain your UEI, you can complete your Grants. gov and eRA Commons registrations.

Through their partnership with the Northeast Michigan Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative, they bring many organizations together in support of students and teachers who are using the outdoors as a classroom and taking on environmental stewardship projects for their community in the Lake Huron watershed. The Great Lakes Bay Watershed Education and Training (B-WET) program supports place-based, experiential learning opportunities for youth to promote Great Lakes stewardship. Eligible projects must serve students and educators in the Great Lakes watershed in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, or Wisconsin. In the Great Lakes region, funds are provided through the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative .

Through the Great Lakes Watershed Field Course, Inland Seas staff educate students and teachers on the importance of the Great Lakes basin. In 2019, students featured in this video, who were inspired by their Lake Michigan "school-ship" field experience, returned to Ohio and took action in their local watershed.
