Great Lakes Sediment and Nutrient Reduction Program (GLSNRP) is a grant from the Great Lakes Commission that funds projects to reduce nutrients and sediments entering the Great Lakes, protecting water quality and ecosystem health across the basin. GLSNRP 2026 Application - Great Lakes Commission Nutrient Reduction Program Apply for ACPF Planning Funding Progress Report Final Report Please note, the 2026 grant application period will open February 12, 2026 and applications will be due on April 27, 2026 at 5:00 p. m. EST.
For 35 years, the Great Lakes Sediment and Nutrient Reduction Program has provided grants to reduce nutrients and sediments entering the Great Lakes. This year’s program will focus on helping Indigenous Nations, nonfederal units of government, or incorporated nonprofit organizations reduce phosphorus contributions to waters within the Great Lakes basin and other efforts to achieve measure of progress under the GLRI Action Plan IV.
Applicants are invited to submit proposals for sediment and nutrient reduction activities associated with one of two project types: 1) agricultural non-point; and 2) shoreline or stream. The due date for applications is 5:00 p. m.
Eastern on April 27, 2026. Applications will be reviewed by representatives from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA), and the eight Great Lakes states. Final decisions on funded projects are anticipated in summer 2026.
Selected projects would begin on October 1, 2026 (with potential for an earlier start) and may be up to four years in duration.
