Through our two staff members, intern and 15 trustees, we provide leadership to enhance our quality of life locally to support natural, community, and human resources; act as a catalyst to identify and address evolving needs; and provide a flexible and cost-effective way for donors to improve the community now and for all time.

Celebrating students who lead with purpose and carry forward a legacy rooted in compassion, service, and leadership 💙 The Kara Deering PSE Leadership Award was established through the Greater Oxford Community Foundation in memory of Kara Deering, a Miami University student and Pi Sigma Epsilon member whose life was tragically cut short in 1998 while traveling to a leadership retreat.
Though her life ended far too soon, Kara’s impact continues through the students who embody the same kindness, integrity, and commitment to others that defined her.
This year, Executive Director Betsy Hope and PSE Faculty Advisor Pat Lindsay presented the scholarship awards to two outstanding recipients, each receiving $2,000 in support of their educational and leadership journeys: ✨ Phillipe “Jontae” Harris (Class of 2028, Business Analytics), who plans to pursue consulting and eventually build his own practice focused on helping others achieve their goals.
✨ Mark Petrowsky (Class of 2027, Finance & Entrepreneurship), who hopes to work in financial or strategy consulting before pursuing leadership opportunities in wealth management. Established by his grandparents, the scholarship supports students pursuing hands-on careers through vocational, technical or trade education, and continues to grow thanks to the support of family, friends and the community. The Tammy McCartney Memorial Scholarship was created by family, friends and community members to honor Tammy’s legacy as a dedicated educator in the Talawanda School District.

The Nancy Kane Continuing Education Award was created by friends and colleagues of Nancy Kane, a longtime educator in the Talawanda School District. Known for her dedication to at-risk and non-traditional students, Nancy inspired those around her through her care, integrity and perseverance. This award supports students continuing their education or pursuing job skill training after high school.

🎓 Riley was a recipient of the Logan David Keebler Memorial Scholarship during our 2025 scholarship cycle. This scholarship is given in memory of Logan David Keebler, a 2016 Talawanda High School graduate who tragically lost his life in an industrial accident at the age of 21.
Logan was known for his strong work ethic, natural mechanical ability and the positive attitude he brought to everything he did — from academics and athletics to his work in manufacturing. Established by Logan’s grandparents using funds they had been saving for his education, the scholarship honors his life and passion for hands-on work.
It supports Talawanda graduates pursuing degrees or certificates from vocational, technical or trade schools leading to careers in fields such as agriculture, construction and mechanical trades, manufacturing, medical or dental technology, automotive or equipment repair, and first response.
Through the generosity of family, friends and community supporters, the fund continues to grow and will support Talawanda students for years to come. Riley is currently studying veterinary technology at the University of Cincinnati. Your community is cheering you on, Riley.

🎓 Lindsay was a recipient of the J. K. and Tripti Bhattacharjee Math and Science Scholarship during our 2025 scholarship cycle.
This scholarship was established by J. K. (Jnanendra) and Tripti Bhattacharjee.
Recognizing the importance of strengthening America’s leadership in math, science and technology, the former Miami University microbiology professor and his wife created this fund to encourage Talawanda students to take advantage of their school’s strong science programs and pursue advanced coursework in math and science.
Inspired by their own children, both Talawanda graduates, the Bhattacharjees hope to see more students continue their education and build successful careers in science and technology. Established by family and friends, the scholarship honors Captain Foley’s love for nature, devotion to family and friends, strong faith and enthusiasm for life. It supports students interested in disciplines that explore the relationship between people and the environment.

The Dale Plank Award was established in 2013 with a gift from Marjorie and Ned Webb.
Their children, Chris Webb (Talawanda Class of 1986) and Kalinde Webb (Talawanda Class of 1984), worked closely with Coach Dale Plank and deeply admire his dedication to student-athletes and his many years of service to the Talawanda School District. Dale taught science at Talawanda Middle School for 38 years before retiring in 2012 and concluded his coaching career in 2014.
The Tammy McCartney Memorial Scholarship was created by family, friends and community members to honor Tammy’s life and legacy. A dedicated teacher in the Talawanda School District for 24 years, Tammy was known for her perseverance, strong work ethic and positive attitude. This scholarship celebrates those same qualities in students today.

A 1965 Talawanda graduate, David worked tirelessly throughout high school while participating in sports — later going on to own a restaurant in Oxford and becoming known for his generous spirit and ability to make friends wherever he went.

The Robert W. and Mary Louise Bogan Scholarship was established by Mr. and Mrs. Bogan, former educators in the Talawanda School District, to encourage students who aspire to become educators and enroll in academic programs in the field of education. The Marvin and Janet Wilhelm Scholarship honors Marvin, a former Talawanda High School principal, and his wife, Janet Wilhelm.
Kesli is currently studying education at the University of the Cumberlands as she prepares for a future in the classroom. 💙 Recently, Geoff Robinson and Betsy Hope from the Greater Oxford Community Foundation visited Talawanda High School to award $12,750 to the Health Care Education Program. 👩‍⚕️ This program allows students to take Butler Tech classes during the school day and graduate ready to jump into the workforce as Certified Nursing Assistants.
