Self-Help’s Green Loans are designed to serve many who are frequently shut out of mainstream financial institutions. Credit terms allow those with poor credit history to qualify and keep the loans affordable.
Loans are available for solar, electric vehicles, and energy saving upgrades (including new HVAC systems, heat pumps, insulation, window installation, and more) to make your home more comfortable and resilient while reducing your utility bills. These loans are intended to help those who may not qualify for traditional loans, while still providing competitive interest rates. Check out Self-Help’s Green Loans page for more info.
## How can I access the money? Contact your local branch manager to speak with a loan officer. ## What other incentives could I use to help me accomplish my goals * Carolina SURE is a program provided through the Clean Energy Fund of the Carolinas.
CEF Carolinas finances projects by partnering with existing financial institutions and through direct lending. Carolina SURE can be used for heating and cooling, energy efficiency, solar and battery, roof, septic projects, and more by providing low interest loans that doesn’t depend on your credit score.
* Energy Saver NC includes two rebate programs operated by the NC Department of Environmental Quality: Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates (HEAR) and Homeowners Managing Efficiency Savings (HOMES). These rebates, funded by the Inflation Reduction Act, may open later in South Carolina.
* If you are a Duke Energy customer in NC, the Tariffed On-Bill program can help homeowners and renters install energy efficiency improvements, pay over time on their electric bill, and save money immediately. * Check out our (non-exhaustive) list of additional funding from other sources that may fit your energy and cost-saving goals.
