GRID - Office of Energy Development Utah Grid Resilience Program The Utah GRID Grant Program is a funding opportunity for Utah's large and small utility providers to improve and upgrade the state's electrical grid, preventing outages and enhancing resliency.
Phase II Applications Now Closed Information about Phase III coming late summer/early fall 2025 Download Informational Flyer The Utah Grid Resilience Program (GRID 40101d) is funded by the U.S. Department of Energy under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (IIJA). This grant program aims to enable improvement and technology adoption that prevent outages while also enhancing the resilience of the electrical grid in Utah.
Utilities serving Utah are eligible to apply. The required funding match will be determined according to each utility’s annual electricity sales: Large utilities, defined as entities that sell more than 4,000,000 megawatt hours of electricity per year, are required to match 100% of the requested fund.
Small utilities, defined as entities that sell less than 4,000,000 megawatt hours of electricity per year, are required to match at least 33. 34% of the requested fund.

Utah has awarded a total of 17 projects under the Grid Resilience Program. Each project is designed to strengthen the power grid and reduce the occurrence of outages caused by severe weather in the state. Pacific Corp , 15 cities, and 4 counties: Replacement of 13 circuits, underground cable inspection and repairs along 600 miles of distribution line, and old substation upgrades that replace 4kV equipment with company standard 12.

Washington City Power Department , Washington City, Washington County: Pole replacement project consists of replacement of 9 3-phase primary poles, 15 single-phase poles, conductor replacement, and 13 overhead transformers. Brigham City Light&Power , Brigham City, Box Elder County: Pole replacement project consists of replacement of 45 poles and line preconductor to service to 800 meters of customers.
Fairview City Electric and Mt Pleasant Power Department , Mt. Pleasant City, Sanpete County: New 46 KV Dual Transmission line project covering approximately 5. 8 miles.
This project includes installation of 123 new poles and 176,496 ft of wire. Price Public Utilities , Price City, Carbon County: New 46 kV Sub-Transmission line project covering approximately 0. 6 miles.
This project includes installation of 26 new poles and 3,500 ft of wire. Morgan City Power , Morgan City, Morgan County: Under-grounding overhead power lines on and around State Street/Hwy 66 covering approximately 10 blocks (1,600 customers). Manti City Power Department , Manti City, Sanpete County: Installation of new 46kV SF6 breakers and equipment at the point of interconnection with Pacificcorp.
Nephi City Power Department , Nephi City, Juab County: 138kV/46kV transmission lines extension project from Nortonville Switchyard to new North Substation #3. This project includes installation of 13,200 ft of 138kV transmission lines. Moon Lake Electric Association Inc. , Fort Duchesne, Uintah County: Distribution lines rebuild project, Ft.
Duchesne Circle (1 mile) and South of Bottle Hollow (3 miles). This project includes replacement of pole, wire, equipment. Empire Electric Association , Manti La Sal National Forest, San Juan County: Under-grounding overhead power lines in the Manti La Sal National Forest covering approximately 2 miles. Pacific Corp , Ogden City, Weber County: Distribution line rebuild of 13 lines and under-ground overhead power line approximately 9. 5 miles.
Hurricane City Power Department , Hurricane City, Washington County: Transmission and distribution lines upgrade approximately 1. 52 miles. This project includes upgrades of poles, wires, and equipment to increase lightning protection and provide redundancy.
Raft River Electric Cooperative , Park Valley, Box Elder County: Distribution line loop feed connect project from west of Snowville to west of Highway 30, covering approximately 9. 75 miles. Garkane Energy Cooperative Inc. , Kanab, Kane County: Under-grounding overhead power lines in the west side of Kanab City covering approximately 8.

Spanish Fork City Power & Light , Spanish Fork City, Utah County: Installation of automatic transfer switch located at the Intermountain Health Care Hospital 3 miles north of the U.S. Highway 6.
