About the Gulf Coast Summer Symposium The Gulf Coast Early Childhood Summer Symposium is a collaboration event of groups and organizations throughout the South. What began as an annual event for Alabama’s oldest state child care association (AALECE) to bring affordable, quality training to early education professionals over 30 years ago, now brings together advocacy groups, state organizations, and participants from over 8 states.
Our attendees return year after year because this conference experience is unlike any other. The crowd is managable. The training is exceptional and relevant.
The atmosphere is laid back. And the beach views are heavenly. Here are some of the highlights you can expect to see at this year’s Summer Symposium… Knowledgable, Engaging Presenters The 2026 Gulf Coast Early Childhood Summer Symposium is honored to welcome an outstanding roster of engaging, knowledgeable presenters who are shaping the future of early learning.
This year’s featured speakers include Krystal Allen , a nationally recognized leader in educational equity and organizational culture, who will guide attendees through in-depth leadership training designed to strengthen confidence, clarity, and impact. Fun, Weird Science returns with high-energy STEM sessions and fast-paced transitional games that bring science to life through curiosity, hands-on exploration, and joyful movement.
Participants will also enjoy an **exclusive training and Q&A session with Mr. Ty—The Childcare Whisperer—**as he shares signature insights on teacher mindset, classroom management, and the heart-centered practices that have transformed programs nationwide.
Rounding out the lineup is Rusty Keeler , internationally known natural playscape designer and author, who will lead immersive sessions on nature education, outdoor learning environments, and creating play spaces that spark creativity and wonder.
Together, these inspiring thought leaders will offer practical strategies, innovative ideas, and meaningful moments of reflection to help early childhood professionals deepen their roots and rise boldly in their work. Training Classes & Workshops The 2026 Gulf Coast Early Childhood Summer Symposium features a robust lineup of training classes and workshops designed to inspire, challenge, and elevate early childhood professionals.
Building on last year’s focus on the joy of learning, this year’s theme— Rooted & Rising: Growing Bold Leaders for Bright Futures —centers on cultivating confident, grounded leadership at every level of early care and education.
Attendees will engage in sessions that explore nurturing strong team culture, strengthening instructional practices, supporting child development through STEM and nature-based learning, and enhancing program quality through effective systems and routines.
In alignment with our commitment to providing participants with the greatest amount of training credit for their investment , transition and reflection times are intentionally structured as part of the learning experience, offering opportunities for processing, connection, and practical application.

The Robotics Grant Program is a grant from the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) that funds school-based robotics programs for elementary, middle, and high school students. Awarded through a competitive application process, the program provides up to $3,500 to eligible local education agencies (LEAs) in Alabama. Applicants must be public school systems submitting on behalf of schools with K–12 students. The grant supports the purchase of robotics equipment and program development aligned with AMSTI guidelines. Applications are submitted online through the AMSTI Robotics Grant portal.
