Pancreatitis Research Funding Call – Closed This funding call is now closed to applications. This call aims to accelerate progress against the research priorities for pancreatitis identified by the Pancreatitis Priority Setting Partnership and to boost pancreatitis research across the UK and Ireland.
We are proud to be partnering with the British Society of Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (BSPGHAN), the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and the Pancreatic Society of Great Britain and Ireland (PSGBI) to deliver this call. Funding is provided for researchers in recognised academic or clinical institutions in the UK and Ireland. Please see individual grant information for more eligibility details.
Three grants are available of up to £60,000 each: BSPGHAN/Guts UK Pancreatitis Research Grant To support research focused on paediatric pancreatitis. Find out more here . Cystic Fibrosis Trust/Guts UK Pancreatitis Research Grant To support research into pancreatitis that is directly relevant to, and has potential benefit for, people with cystic fibrosis with a complication of pancreatitis.

uk Guts UK/British Society of Gastroenterology Trainee Awards – Closed This funding call is now closed and is expected to reopen in January 2027. Find out more here.
Guts UK/BSG Trainee Research Awards are for UK-based gastroenterology and allied Specialty Trainees (who hold a National Training Number) who would like to conduct research or audit/quality improvement (QI ) in any area of gastroenterology (including pancreatology and hepatology) or nutrition in relation to gastroenterology.
We strongly encourage applications that are aligned to our current research priorities which can be found here within our Research Strategy . Applications are accepted for individual and for network projects. Grants are available up to £5,000 each (£10,000 for networks), with no minimum value, with a total budget for all the awards of £50,000.

Guts UK Early Career Researcher Development Grants – Closed This funding call is now closed and is expected to reopen in January 2027. Find out more here. This scheme provides funding for early career researchers to do proof-of-concept research in any area of gastroenterology (including pancreatology and hepatology).

A number of awards and prizes for different amounts are available. Guts UK Amelie Waring PhD Studentship – Closed The Amelie Waring PhD Studentship call is now closed.
Information about the next call will be shared here. The Guts UK Amelie Waring PhD Studentship is aimed at research into any aspect of pancreatic inflammation or injury. One PhD Studentship of up to £120,000 is available.

Guts UK Derek Butler Fellowship – Closed The Derek Butler Fellowship is now closed and is expected to re-open in June 2027. The Guts UK Derek Butler Fellowship is for research in upper gastrointestinal tract diseases and conditions. One Fellowship of up to £250,000 is available.
