Applicants’ proposals must support workers in one of the following 5 categories: * **Behavioral Health Staff** * **Community Health Workers (CHWs)** * **Home and Community-Based Long-Term Services and Supports (LTSS) Workers** You can find a more detailed listof which workers and services are eligible for grant funding in the FAQs in the Helpful Resources section below.
* Massachusetts provider, or a collaboration of multiple providers * Massachusetts education/training institution * Massachusetts community-based organization * Massachusetts private foundation * Owner of an existing workforce program that benefits Massachusetts * Regional workforce or training partnership that can develop and run a program focused on employers in Massachusetts You can apply alone or as part of a partnership.
All partnerships must submit a letter of intent signed by all parties. You can submit your application without being registered on SAM. gov, but you will need an active SAM.

Applications can focus on creating a new program or expanding an existing one. In either case, grant funds must be used for one or more of the following purposes: * **Pipeline Development and Recruitment** * **Professional Development and Retention** * **Workforce-Impacting IT Improvements** You can find a more detailed description of the eligible activities in the FAQs in the Helpful Resources section below.
Funds cannot be used for: * MassHealth-funded Personal Care Attendants * Retention bonuses, referral bonuses, recruitment bonuses, or temporary wage increases * State and municipal employees * Durable and/or specialized medical equipment providers Priority will be given to applications that do one or more of the following: * Diversify the workforce, with a focus on Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) and individuals with disabilities * Create or expand a regional workforce partnership to recruit, train, or advance existing workers * Support the existing workforce with enhanced training/education for career growth * Expand existing educational capacity and, through partnerships with employers, create opportunities for students to enter the workforce post-graduation.

Behavioral Health Urgent Care Expansion Grant is a $7.5 million one-time grant from the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS) that funds eligible community mental health centers (CMHCs) to achieve Behavioral Health Urgent Care (BHUC) designation in Massachusetts. The grant supports CMHCs that are not yet BHUC providers in expanding access to non-emergency mental health care, including extending hours to nights and weekends, adding same-day and next-day appointments, enhancing scheduling and security technology, and increasing access to medication for addiction treatment or psychopharmacology. Only CMHCs that do not already hold BHUC provider status are eligible to apply. Priority is given to CMHCs with strong ties to underserved communities and populations with underserved language needs, including individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. Allowable costs include staff recruitment and retention, technology upgrades, professional development, and marketing. Ongoing operating costs and temporary salary increases are not eligible.
Behavioral Health Workforce Support is a scholarship and workforce development program from the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services and the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education that funds behavioral health students and eligible colleges and universities to address critical workforce shortages in mental health and substance use disorder services. The Behavioral Health Workforce Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to students pursuing degrees and certifications in behavioral health fields, subject to legislative appropriation. Eligible applicants include behavioral health students at Massachusetts colleges and universities. The program aims to increase the pipeline of licensed behavioral health clinicians serving Massachusetts communities.
