Research – SCRC Grants and Programs Advancing Knowledge to Strengthen the Southeast The Southeast Crescent Regional Commission (SCRC) supports research that drives inclusive economic development and uplifts distressed communities across the Southeastern United States.
Our research initiatives are designed to inform data-driven decisions, guide strategic investments, and support collaborative solutions that meet the unique challenges of the region. SCRC is committed to fostering innovation, equity, and accountability through research.
We support and conduct studies that: Identify structural and socioeconomic barriers to growth Evaluate the impact of Commission-funded programs Inform long-term regional planning and policy development Promote transparency through data sharing and public engagement Strengthen coordination among federal, state, academic, and local partners SCRC prioritizes applied and policy-relevant research in areas that align with our statutory mission: Economic and workforce development Infrastructure improvement and broadband expansion Education and skills training Healthcare access and public health outcomes Affordable housing and community revitalization Agricultural development and environmental resilience SCRC collaborates with a wide range of stakeholders to expand the impact of our research: Colleges and universities Research institutions and policy centers State and local governments Community and economic development practitioners We encourage proposals for collaborative research, regional needs assessments, and program evaluation studies that serve the interests of the Southeastern Crescent region.
The following publications highlight recent research and findings supported by SCRC: Southeast Crescent Regional Needs Assessment (2024) Broadband Access and Infrastructure Gaps in Rural Counties Economic Impact of Workforce Training Grants Climate Resilience and Agricultural Innovation in the Southeast Additional reports and datasets will be published on a rolling basis.
