Healthy Communities Initiative – Pallottine Foundation of Buckhannon Healthy Communities Initiative The Healthy Communities Initiative provides funding and support to nonprofit organizations administering health-related programming to address the behavioral, emotional, physical, social, and spiritual needs of the community.
The initiative also supports projects that improve the nonprofit’s internal capacity to work effectively and develop strong finances, leadership, and infrastructure. Healthy Communities is open annually and has a one-year grant period with awards up to $25,000.
Organizations may apply once per grant cycle; however, applications may include funding requests for multiple projects and contain com ponents from any of the Foundation’s focus areas. To accommodate as many deserving requests as possible, the Foundation may elect to award partial funding. To view the 2025 application questions, click here .

31, 2027 Review the eligibility guidelines to ensure your organization meets the application requirements. A note regarding nonprofit status: The Foundation recognizes that impactful work often begins before formal nonprofit status is established.
Organizations that do not yet have a nonprofit designation may apply for funding from the Foundation utilizing an eligible fiscal sponsor, provided both the fiscal sponsor and the sponsored organization and its project align with the Foundation’s mission and eligibility requirements. A fiscal sponsor is an IRC 501(c)(3) organization that agrees to receive and manage grant funds on behalf of another organization.
Any organization that intends to utilize a fiscal sponsor should contact a member of the Foundation’s program team before beginning an application . Review the following pages to ensure your proposed project aligns with a focus area: Spiritual and pastoral care Tobacco use prevention and cessation Review the application questions to learn about the types of information requested.
Applicants will be asked to provide financial information and detailed organization and project overviews. The Foundation does not require applicants to use a specific project budget form. As a resource for applicants, the Foundation has created a sample project budget and a project budget template .
Applicants are welcome to use either document if it is helpful; however, they are also welcome to design their project budget in their preferred format. All applications must be submitted through the Foundation’s grant management system. No other format will be accepted.
Complete and submit your application by 8 p. m. on the deadline date.
Late applications will not be accepted. After the application period closes, Foundation staff members will review applications and may request additional information or a site visit. Following the review process, the Foundation’s Board of Trustees will make funding decisions and applicants will be notified by email.
