Therapeutic Horsemanship – IHF The International Horsemanship Foundation provides grants to support a wide range of activities that align with our mission of promoting Relationship-Based Horsemanship. org 1-844-433-5683 (toll-free in the US & Canada) The International Horsemanship Foundation offers grants to support programs that reflect our mission of advancing Relationship-Based Horsemanship. This includes funding for training equipment and materials, instructor-led staff and volunteer education, certification through recognized horsemanship professionals, and public education on therapeutic horsemanship practices.

Grants may cover one or multiple related activities, and other mission-aligned initiatives may also be considered. To be eligible for funding, applicants must be a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization operating within the United States.

Unfortunately, the IHF is not currently licensed to distribute funds to organizations outside the U.S. A complete application must be submitted by the designated deadline, and applicants must clearly demonstrate a commitment to natural horsemanship principles. All grant applications are reviewed anonymously by a dedicated committee.

This ensures a fair and unbiased evaluation process focused on how well each proposal aligns with the IHF’s goals and values. Applications should include detailed plans for how the funds will be used to further the mission of Relationship-Based Horsemanship. Grants may be awarded for a wide range of educational and training efforts, either as stand-alone initiatives or in combination.

The International Horsemanship Foundation’s Heroes and Horsemanship initiative is a grant program dedicated to supporting nonprofit therapeutic organizations that serve veterans, active-duty military, first responders, and their families—our heroes helping heroes.

IHF’s mission includes honoring and assisting those who protect and serve by expanding their access to horses and Relationship-Based Horsemanship education. Equine-Assisted Therapy (EAT) is a proven method for helping veterans and first responders cope with the physical and emotional effects of their service.

We believe these individuals deserve the opportunity to heal through meaningful connection with horses, and we are proud to help make that possible. The Heroes and Horsemanship grant cycle follows the same timeline as our general Therapeutic Horsemanship grant program. Grants are designed to support impactful projects that connect heroes with horses through Relationship-Based Horsemanship.

Funding may support training staff and volunteers, offering free or reduced-cost services to qualifying participants, extending access when VA funding runs out, certifying team members through horsemanship organizations, and providing public education around the benefits of these methods.
