2026 FARE Fund | America's Healthy Food Financing Initiative 2026 FARE Fund | America's Healthy Food Financing Initiative 2026 FARE FUND GRANTS & TA 2026 FARE Fund Grants & TA 2026 Partnerships Program The HFFI Food Access and Retail Expansion Fund (HFFI FARE Fund) is a program under America’s Healthy Food Financing Initiative, a program of USDA Rural Development.
Through the 2026 HFFI FARE Fund Grant and Technical Assistance funding cycle, at least $5,250,000 is available for planning and implementation Grants and at least $1,000,000 is available for Technical Assistance to eligible food retail and post-harvest food retail supply chain projects across the country. Read the Request for Applications (RFA) The HFFI FARE Fund will fund projects that create or expand the following types of business models: SNAP Authorized food retailers located in eligible underserved areas that will sell an assortment of Staple and Perishable foods directly to consumers Post-harvest food retail supply chain enterprises that will distribute Staple and Perishable foods to SNAP authorized food retailers located in eligible underserved areas Applicants must demonstrate how their proposed project will contribute to food access through the availability of an assortment of both Staple and Perishable Foods for retail sale at SNAP authorized retailers in eligible underserved areas.

To get started, take the Community Connector’s screening quiz to see if your project might be eligible.
This screening tool includes a few high-level eligibility questions to ask yourself before reaching out to the Community Connectors for support or submitting a Funding Inquiry. An official eligibility determination will be made following submission of a Funding Inquiry in SmartSimple and review by Program Staff. Once you’ve completed the quiz, reach out to our Community Connectors at CommunityConnector@investinginfood.
com for help with understanding eligibility, what makes a strong HFFI project, the Funding Inquiry process, and more. In your email inquiry, please include your ‘ORGANIZATION NAME and STATE’ in the subject line. For example, “Reinvestment Fund, Pennsylvania”.
Please note that Community Connectors cannot provide grant writing support. Organizations interested in the HFFI FARE Fund Grant and Technical Assistance funding cycle should review the full Request for Applications prior to applying. The first step in the application process is submitting a Funding Inquiry through Reinvestment Fund’s application portal SmartSimple at reinvestmentfund.
smartsimple. com . Funding Inquiries will be screened for eligibility and if deemed eligible, the applicant will be invited to complete a full application.
Full applications cannot be submitted without an invitation. Funding Inquiries are due no later than 11:59 PM ET, July 31, 2026. Applicants will be contacted via an email from SmartSimple with an eligibility determination by September 4, 2026 once their Funding Inquiry Form has been reviewed.
If eligible, applicants will also receive an invitation to submit a full application. If invited to submit, full applications are due no later than 11:59 PM ET, October 30, 2026. Award notifications will be made no earlier than January 2027.

Rural Microentrepreneur Assistance Program (RMAP) is sponsored by USDA Rural Business-Cooperative Service. The Rural Microentrepreneur Assistance Program (RMAP) provides loans and grants to Microenterprise Development Organizations (MDOs). These MDOs then use the funding to help rural microenterprises (businesses with 10 or fewer employees) start up and grow, and to provide training and technical assistance to microloan borrowers and micro-entrepreneurs in rural areas. USDA provides zero-interest loans to local utilities, which they then pass through to local businesses for projects that create and retain employment in rural areas.
Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) Renewable Energy Systems & Energy Efficiency Improvement Loans & Grants is sponsored by USDA Rural Business-Cooperative Service. This program provides guaranteed loan financing and grant funding to agricultural producers and rural small businesses for renewable energy systems or to make energy efficiency improvements. Agricultural producers may also apply for new energy efficient equipment and new system loans for agricultural production and processing. The program aims to increase American energy independence and lower energy costs for small businesses and agricultural producers. Grants can cover up to 50% of eligible project costs for renewable energy systems (up to $1,000,000) and energy efficiency projects (up to $500,000). Loan guarantees are offered for 60% to 85% of the loan amount, and a combination of grant and loan guarantees can cover up to 75% of eligible project costs.
