Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG) Program is sponsored by U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) via City of Schenectady. The City of Schenectady administers Federal Consolidated Plan funding, including ESG, to support emergency shelters and services for homeless individuals. Applications for the 2026–2027 Consolidated Plan Annual Action Plan funding are currently open.
Small Business Assistance Program is a grant from HUD via the City of Schenectady that funds local small businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic through Community Development Block Grant (CDBG-CV) stimulus funding authorized under the CARES Act. Since October 2020, the program has awarded $300,000 in grants and technical assistance to 42 local small businesses, administered in partnership with the Community Loan Fund of the Capital Region. Grants help businesses adapt to pandemic-related challenges. Eligible applicants are businesses located within the City of Schenectady with 10 or fewer employees that have suffered at least a 25% loss in revenue since COVID. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until funds are exhausted.
