Welcome to the Home Modification Program managed by INCIL Transforming Homes, Enabling Independence At the Illinois Network of Centers for Independent Living (INCIL), we believe in a future where every individual, regardless of disability, has the freedom and support to lead independent, fulfilling lives.
Our mission drives us toward this vision every day, we are pleased to support the Home Modification Program, funded by the State of Illinois. In its first year, INCIL’s Home Modification Project helped 83 individuals with disabilities by providing essential home modifications to improve accessibility for entering and living in their homes. Due to the overwhelming demand, there are currently more than 800 individuals on the waiting list.
Available funding will cover only a small portion of this list. We encourage you to contact your legislators to express the ongoing need for additional resources. If you would like information about other potential assistance programs, please reach out to your local Center for Independent Living .
Unlocking Home Modification at No Cost For the first time, funds are available for modifications that make private homes and rental properties more accessible. Whether you own your home or rent with your landlord’s permission, if you or a household member has a documented disability, you may be eligible for this program. Exterior Ramp Installation Ensure safe and accessible entry and exit points for your home.
Interior Home Modification Adjust your living space to meet your needs for accessibility and independence. Get updates to your home for a safe living environment. Consumer Eligibility & Application Reside in Illinois, whether you own your home or rent (with landlord’s approval).
Have a person with a documented disability living in the household. Meet the maximum income requirement. Ready to make your home more accessible?
