These programs are for both Impacted and Disproportionately Impacted households within the City of Scranton.
To be eligible, applicants in the First-Time Homebuyer program: Must complete NeighborWorks’ homeownership program including: Financial Education Workshops Financial Empowerment Sessions Must meet 80% or less of the Area Median Income (AMI) Must follow additional existing rules set by NeighborWorks that follow guidance from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Must be up-to-date on all taxes and trash fees Grant Administrators: Neighborworks NEPA, www.

acenepa. org Deadline: Applications accepted on an ongoing basis through Dec. 31, 2023 Download First-Time Homebuyer and Home Rehabilitation Guidance (PDF) This program will help homeowners pursue important projects for the weatherization of their home.
Eligible weatherization activities help result in energy savings, reduced utility bills, and may help keep homes safe. Projects include but are not limited to housing insulation; updates to heating, cooling, and ventilation systems; and updating lighting and appliances. Additionally, home repair activities may include deferred major repairs.
These may include repairs to the home’s exterior to address unsafe conditions or to repairs including plumbing.
Eligible applicants must meet the requirements of partners’ existing programs, including: NeighborWorks Aging-In-Place Program Must have valid and up-to-date homeowners’ insurance Must be at or below 80% AMI ACE’s Weatherization Program Must be at or below 200% of federal poverty guidelines Must contact ACE’s office for income and eligibility check Must meet with ACE auditor for home inspection and energy education First-Time Homebuyer and Home Rehabilitation Grant FAQs How does bad credit impact application eligibility for the homeowner/homebuyer program?
The homeowner grant is contingent upon the applicant being able to qualify for a quality mortgage. A quality mortgage does have a credit score component. The NeighborWorks homeowner/homebuyer program offers a free credit repair program as part of the homeowner education program.
Can application assistance be provided or hard copies of applications be picked up for seniors? Yes, hard copies for the aging in place applications can be picked up directly from the Neighborworks office located at 815 Smith Street, Scranton PA. Application assistance is available if notified ahead of time.
Does my mother quality if she is not the homeowner, but I own the home and we reside together in the home? Also, what do you cover for that? Yes, she does qualify if she is not a renter.
