org The Foundation for the Horse Email: info@foundationforthehorse. org The Foundation for the Horse Email: info@foundationforthehorse. org Horses at Risk, Equine Care & Vaccine Support Grant Jay Buckner 2026-02-25T16:17:31-05:00 Horses at Risk, Equine Care & Vaccine Support Grant The goal of this grant is to support non-profit facilities that provide comfort, care, and vaccines to horses at risk.
Our objective is to help as many horses as possible through this grant opportunity by: Providing funding to support the comfort and care for horses, and/or; Providing core vaccines, courtesy of Merck Animal Health , to help mitigate disease.
(Previously known as the Unwanted Horse Veterinary Relief Campaign program) Vaccine Awards- A minimum of 10 doses may be awarded per applicant facility; however, more may be awarded based on the application. Grant Awards- The total funding amount available for this grant opportunity in 2026 is a maximum of 25 grants for up to $2,500 each.
This grant is open to U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that provide direct, day-to-day care to horses at their own facilities.
The program is intended to support organizations with a demonstrated need for assistance and a proven record of impact through effective programs, including — but not limited to — equine adoption, rehabilitation, education, and the implementation of innovative services serving their target audiences and equine populations.
The following are not eligible for funding: nonprofit organizations that do not directly own or manage the daily care of horses; privately owned horses; for-profit entities, including riding stables and boarding facilities. The Online Application includes the following sections: Title Page: This includes basic contact information, mission statement, and other demographic information about your organization. Grant Proposal: Provide a description of how your organization will use these grant funds to directly impact the care of horses within your facility.
Eligibility Documents & Budget: Please have documentation of the following available to upload: Budget (Excel spreadsheet), proof of your legal nonprofit status, and proof of good standing with the applicable state agency. AAEP Member Veterinarian Reference: Please share these instructions for veterinary references . Review the helpful instructions on how to apply.
Submission Deadline: February 15, 2026, at 11:59 p. m. (EST) Please complete the interest form below to be notified when this grant opens again in 2027.
