Horses at Risk, Working Equid Grant - The Foundation For The Horse Horses at Risk, Working Equid Grant Amity Wahl 2026-01-16T10:31:36-05:00 Horses at Risk, Working Equid Grant Learn how a Working Equid Grant that supported the 2025 Texas Equitarian Project in Acatenango, Guatemala, helped working horses, donkeys, and mules that are crucial to daily life in this community.

This Equitarian Initiative was a partnership of The Foundation for the Horse, Texas Equine Veterinary Association, and FullBucket. The Foundation for The Horse’s mission area supporting Horses at Risk focuses on programs for domestic equines as well as international and domestic aid and education through projects for working equids and Equitarian.

This grant opportunity supports programs and projects that improve the direct care of working equids and/or increase the education to veterinarians and others providing care. We are accepting applications for programs that benefit the working equids of the world, particularly those in areas of need.

Priority is given to programs with the broadest reach and/or that work toward self-sustainability within their community, including educational elements and sustainable funding models. The total funding amount available for this grant opportunity varies year-to-year. Grants will generally range from $2,500 – $10,000 for first-time applicants or $5,000 – $25,000 for trusted and previous applicants.

501(3) non-profit organizations or certified non-governmental organizations may apply for this grant opportunity. Previous Foundation grant recipients must be current on all reporting requirements.
