Housing Assistance Program (Arapahoe County Community Resources Department, CO) is sponsored by Arapahoe County Community Resources Department, Colorado. This program provides limited short-term housing assistance, including rental and utility assistance, for low to moderate-income individuals and families residing in Arapahoe County, Colorado.

Arapahoe County is committed to supporting residents who are experiencing housing instability due to economic challenges. The Arapahoe County Rental Assistance Program is a limited funding resource designed to address urgent, one-time needs that impact an individual or family’s housing stability due to an economic loss.

Additionally, households applying for rent assistance will be referred to the Housing Stability Coordination Team for additional assistance and resources to help address housing instability. To be considered for assistance, applicants must demonstrate how they will be able to meet their ongoing financial obligations after receiving support.

Eligible individuals and families may receive assistance with: Past due rent, with a current demand or eviction notice Utility bills, with a current shut-off or disconnection notice Security Deposit assistance Funding and assistance are not guaranteed, and disbursement is based on eligibility, determination and availability of funding. Criteria for eligibility is subject to change.

Due to funding limitations, approved applicants may receive a maximum of $5,000 . Approval of assistance does not guarantee the maximum award amount, and applicants may receive less than the amount requested. The amount of assistance will be determined based on the rent ledger balance provided by the applicants’ property management.

Applicants are required either to verify that any remaining balance beyond the approved assistance amount has been paid or secured prior to receiving rent assistance from the county, if approved, or have the property management provide written confirmation that the applicant has been approved for a payment plan to address the outstanding balance.

Households that do not meet this requirement are still encouraged to connect with our Housing Stability Coordination Team, who can help identify other assistance programs, community resources, and housing stability supports. Effective May 1, 2026, Arapahoe County is not currently accepting applications for mortgage assistance. Because funding is limited, applications will be reviewed in the following order of priority: Households with an eviction summons issued by Arapahoe County Court that includes a scheduled eviction hearing date. Please note this list of acceptable court documentation .

Households that are applying for the first time. Households with a remand for rent notice Households with income below 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI). All other households experiencing housing instability or at risk of eviction.

To be considered for rent assistance, applicants must meet the application criteria. Applicants must: Have a household income below 80% of the AMI Please use the AMI calculator to determine if you meet Arapahoe County eligibility requirements.

Provide the following documentation: A current eviction notice or summons Identification for all household members, including children Income verification for all household members Accepted forms of income verification may include: Proof of Human Services benefits, such as SNAP, TANF, or Medicaid If income documentation is not available, applicants may submit a Self-Attestation of Income form, which is included in the application packet.

Additional documentation may be requested during the review process. Households seeking rent assistance will be required to complete a rent assistance application to determine eligibility. The rent application portal will be open on the first Monday of each month at 9 a.

m. and will be open until the application capacity has been reached. Once the maximum number of applications have been received, the portal will temporarily close until those applications have been processed.

When the application link shows "Invalid URL," the portal is closed until further notice. Additionally, if an applicant is working on the rent applicant and the portal closes they will be unable to submit the application. Please carefully read all the instructions on the application and ensure that it is completed accurately.

Submit a Completed Application Important Application Information To ensure fairness and timely processing: Applications must be complete to be reviewed. Both applicants and property managers must respond to any requests for additional documentation within 10 calendar days.

Applications that remain incomplete after this period may be closed. Providing false or unverifiable information will result in denial and the applicant will not be eligible to reapply. Households that have received rent assistance from Arapahoe County within the past 12 months are not eligible for additional assistance.
