Finding affordable, healthy, and safe housing can be difficult on a limited income. We understand. Brightpoint may be able to help through one of our many housing assistance programs.

Brightpoint is the lead agency for our region’s Coordinated Entry (CE) housing assistance for individuals experiencing homelessness. Coordinated Entry helps to connect people in crisis to relevant programs and interventions that will rapidly end their homelessness.

The assessment process used by the program is designed to help the most vulnerable in our community access scarce housing resources whether provided by Brightpoint or by our partner agencies. For families and individuals experiencing homelessness or those at imminent risk of becoming homeless: Housing Solutions: Short-term housing assistance that helps individuals overcome temporary housing crises.

Participants receive comprehensive, holistic case management as well as assistance locating stable housing and paying for housing-related costs. Housing Solutions is funded through the Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG). Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH): Rental assistance that helps those who are homeless and dealing with disabilities related to mental illness, substance abuse recovery or living with HIV.

The program is designed to support the goal of maintaining long-term housing stability. Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF): Housing program for veterans who are facing homelessness or are currently homeless. Learn more about SSVF .

For families and individuals who need assistance accessing safe and secure long-term affordable housing: The Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP – formerly known as Section 8) assists very low-income families, the elderly, and people with disabilities so they can afford decent, safe, and healthy long-term housing in the private market. The program offers participants a voucher that significantly offsets their rent expenses.

Participants are responsible for covering the remaining balance, which is set at an affordable percentage. Participants are free to choose any housing that meets the requirements of the program . This program operates on a waiting list system and prioritizes families with the most need.

If homeless, must be referred through Coordinated Entry. Permanent Supportive Housing: Must be HUD-defined homeless and have a disability of either severe mental illness, chronic substance abuse, and/or living with HIV/AIDS. Must be referred through Coordinated Entry.

Housing Choice Voucher Program: Eligibility is based on income. Most families who are eligible fall under 30% of the Area Median Income (AMI.) Some families with incomes up to 50% AMI may qualify.
