Humanity AI is a $500 million, five-year philanthropic coalition launched in October 2025 and co-chaired by the MacArthur Foundation and Omidyar Network to ensure people have agency in shaping AI's future and that artificial intelligence becomes a force for good that puts people and the planet first.
The coalition's ten founding members pool funding across five focus areas: democracy and digital rights, education and AI implementation that serves all students, humanities and culture including artist intellectual property protection, labor and economy with an emphasis on enhancing rather than replacing workers, and security including AI safety standards. The initiative is fiscally sponsored by Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors.
Pooled-fund grantmaking begins in 2026; an initial $10 million in aligned grantmaking has already been announced across universities, research institutions, civil society organizations, and think tanks.
