Ontario municipalities and municipality-endorsed charitable organizations were invited to apply for an opportunity to receive funding for programs and initiatives that strengthen local emergency preparedness, critical infrastructure or community well-being.

Submissions close June 30, 2026 at 11:59 p. m.

com Organizations must meet the following criteria: Are an Ontario municipality, a municipality-endorsed non-profit or registered charitable Seeking funding for a community-driven program, project or initiative focused on strengthening emergency preparedness, critical infrastructure or community well-being.

Examples of eligible projects Backup generators for community centres, fire halls, water treatment facilities or emergency shelters Portable or fixed emergency power units Critical infrastructure hardening (flood barriers, sump pumps, alarms, resilience retrofits) Emergency response equipment, including radios, first-aid supplies, and sandbagging tools, aid supplies or sandbagging Warming/cooling centre readiness upgrades Emergency planning or training for municipal staff and volunteers Community emergency notification systems Safety lighting or power redundancy upgrades at key municipal sites And other local priority projects and initiatives Examples of non-eligible projects and organizations Political parties, riding associations and candidates Lobbying or advocacy organizations Trade associations, Chambers of Commerce or professional organizations Funding cannot support membership fees, advocacy or sector promotion Faith-based organizations Commercial and/or third-party fundraising initiatives Private or corporate foundations Advertising or promotional campaigns by charities or non-profits Organizations that discriminate on prohibited grounds Apply for the opportunity to receive up to $25,000 in funding As the demand for electricity grows across Ontario, we’re investing in local energy talent, communities and Indigenous partnerships as we build a better and brighter future, together.
