This mythological figure seems to have a particular relevance in the current world, where integrated preventive strategies throughout the lifespan are in need to achieve Health and wellbeing of the populations.

HYGIEIA- Health and Wellbeing Across the Lifespan Master aims to bring a ground-breaking educational project providing scientific knowledge and competencies that are applicable in risk prevention (rather than treatment) health strategies.

This is achieved through non-pharmacological approaches: Nutrition, Lifestyle education and thoughtful use of Cosmetics, Food Supplements and Digital Tools, accomplishing the potential synergies that can be established when a holistic approach is used. HYGIEIA targets a new generation of professionals hoping to undertake a career relevant to the areas of health and wellness.

It will be operating in an area of high economic impact and strategic importance, addressing market needs since there is a deficiency of formative offer in this field. Complementarily, it will contribute to bringing much needed evidence-based scientific knowledge to the industry and businesses.

HYGIEIA is a 2-year English-taught program that involves the Lusófona University (Lisbon), University Belgrade (Serbia) , and the University of Balearic Islands (Spain), as well as stakeholders from academia, industry, medical societies, and healthcare providers. ### Save the Date! We are pleased to announce the II HYGIEIA Conference, which will take place on 4 December 2026 in a hybrid format, at Universidade Lusófona (Lisbon) and online. The conference will bring together researchers, professionals, students and stakeholders to discuss current challenges and innovative approaches in health and wellbeing across the lifespan. ### Applications closed in February and should reopen in November 2026 for the 2027-2029 intake! ### HYGIEIA Academic Board Member Catarina Rosado Visits Srinakharinwirot University in Thailand HYGIEIA Academic Board member Catarina Rosado visited Srinakharinwirot University in Thailand, an Associated Academic Partner of HYGIEIA, on 24 June 2026.

During the visit, she was welcomed by the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, together with lecturers, members of staff and students. The meeting provided an opportunity to strengthen the existing relationship between HYGIEIA and Srinakharinwot University and to explore future areas of collaboration. Discussions focused on potential initiatives including staff and student exchanges, as well as the development of joint research projects.

The visit further consolidated HYGIEIA’s international academic network and reinforced the shared commitment to advancing education, research, and innovation. Catarina Rosado also participated as a keynote speaker at the PST 2026 Conference in Bangkok. Her lecture addressed the theme of the safety and efficacy assessment of cosmetic products containing natural products with a view to increasing sustainability of skin formulations.
