org/)/Community Support/Research + Program... /IBM SPIE HBCU... # Past program: IBM-SPIE HBCU Faculty Accelerator Award in Quantum Optics and Photonics From 2021–2024, the IBM-HBCU Quantum Center and SPIE jointly presented the IBM-SPIE HBCU Faculty Accelerator Award in Quantum Optics and Photonics.

Keith Hargrove, and Akshaya Kumar Tuskegee University ## 2022: Wesley Sims Morehouse College ## 2021: Renu Tripathi Delaware State University ### Leveraging diversity to move quantum technologies forward **Program status:** The IBM-SPIE HBCU Faculty Accelerator Award in Quantum Optics and Photonics is no longer accepting applications and is not currently active.
The information below is maintained as an archive of the program and its recipients. Acknowledging inequities in previous technology sectors and supporting workforce development, SPIE and IBM collaborated to help ensure that emerging technologies leveraged the perspectives and experiences of a diverse community.
Quantum photonics and related technologies were recognized as key drivers of future technological advancement and economic growth. SPIE and IBM believed these technologies would be strengthened by the ideas, research, and contributions of the diverse student bodies at America's Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
Through this partnership, four $100,000 awards were granted to promote research and education in quantum optics and photonics within IBM-HBCU Quantum Center member institutions. The awards provided support for student and postdoctoral researcher stipends, travel, conference registration, equipment, materials and supplies, and faculty summer salary. * Receive only the information you want
