Idaho receives nearly $4 million to expand AmeriCorps programs Idaho receives nearly $4 million to expand AmeriCorps programs Colby Kistner | 07/23/2026 Serve Idaho, the state’s commission for community service and volunteerism, has received more than $3. 9 million in federal AmeriCorps funding to expand service opportunities across the state, according to a press release.

The commission administers AmeriCorps programs in Idaho and promotes volunteerism through partnerships with public, private and nonprofit organizations. AmeriCorps awarded $2. 1 million in competitive funding to support programs at Idaho State University and the Student Conservation Association.

It also provided $1. 8 million in formula funding — money distributed based on a set formula — to aid the University of Idaho, Palouse-Clearwater Environmental Institute, Teach for America and the Central Idaho Mountain Bike Association. The funding will help organizations recruit, train and supervise AmeriCorps volunteers.

The funding will support programs in areas such as: environmental stewardship “We are thrilled that Serve Idaho has received both competitive and formula funding from AmeriCorps to continue advancing national service across our state,” Serve Idaho Program Manager Emily Straubhar said. “These investments reflect the incredible impact AmeriCorps volunteers make every day.

” AmeriCorps members who complete their service term earn a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award, which can be used to repay qualified student loans or education expenses. Prospective volunteers can learn more about opportunities through Serve Idaho .
