IFSP Funding Program

IFSP Funding Program is sponsored by Virginia's Developmental Disabilities waivers (administered by 211 Virginia). The IFSP Funding Program provides financial assistance to individuals and families awaiting services through one of Virginia's Developmental Disabilities waivers. This assistance can cover eligible costs that support continued living in an independent setting.

Individual and Family Support Program (IFSP) - Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) Clinical and Quality Management Behavioral Health Advisory Council Addiction and Recovery Council Individual and Family Support Program (IFSP) Locate my Community Service Board For Individuals & Families In collaboration with state and community partners, DBHDS plans, develops, directs, funds, and monitors the delivery of comprehensive behavioral health services throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Behavioral health services may include services for the prevention and treatment of mental health and substance use disorders.

Your Human Rights While Receiving DBHDS Licensed, Funded, or Operated Services DBHDS works with partners across Virginia to develop and maintain the Commonwealth’s continuum of crisis care, by ensuring that there is always someone to call, someone to respond, and somewhere to go.

Local and State Human Rights Committees The function of Human Rights Committees is to ensure due process for individuals who are receiving or have recently received a service licensed, funded, or operated by DBHDS. Forensic services include mental health evaluations and screenings, treatment of individuals with mental illness in jail, case management and restoration of competency to stand trial.

DBHDS develops programs and services for individuals at risk for involvement in the criminal justice system. Sexually Violent Predator (SVP) services support the delivery of evaluation, treatment, and supervision services to individuals found by the court to meet the criteria of sexually violent predator.

DBHDS oversees the licensing and regulatory compliance of providers delivering mental health, developmental disability, and substance use services across Virginia.

CSB Performance Dashboard Housing Information for CSBs Disaster Behavioral Health Services in Virginia Census and Waitlist Dashboard Individual and Family Support Program (IFSP) The Individual and Family Support Program (IFSP) assists individuals with developmental disabilities and their families with accessing person-centered and family-centered resources, supports, services and other assistance.

The program’s primary target population is individuals on the waiting list for Virginia’s Developmental Disabilities (DD) Medicaid waivers. The goal of the program is to support continued community living. IFSP Community Coordination DBHDS established the Individual and Family Support Community Coordination Program to assist families and individuals with developmental disabilities with making local connections to resources and supports that maintain community living.

The effort is a partnership led by families that have formed councils covering the five DBHDS service regions. Together, DBHDS and the IFSP State and Regional Councils have worked to establish Virginia’s Individual and Family Support State Plan and to set local goals to support its implementation.
