The project brings together cultural and scientific institutions, heritage conservation professionals, and economic actors in a consortium active in at least three EU member states or associated countries. With a total budget of approximately €60 million in EU funding, the partnership promotes innovative methods and technologies for sustainable management, digital networking , and participatory development of preservation strategies.

The goal is to develop transnational standards for climate risk assessment, materials science, and restoration, as well as to establish training programs for professionals and local communities. Based on multi-year projects, pilot applications are tested in phases, such as tools for 3D digitization, energy-efficient climate control systems in museums, or participatory platforms for citizens to contribute their perspectives on monuments.

Furthermore, the partnership develops innovative business models for the CCI sector and formulates policy recommendations for policymakers, administrations, and cultural institutions. The integration of FAIR-compliant data platforms and the European Open Science Cloud ensures sustainable reuse of research results.

A governance body composed of representatives from national heritage protection authorities coordinates the activities, while working groups on climate, digitalization, and communities actively shape the interplay between culture and social change.
