Independent Grants (Medical Education) is sponsored by Daiichi Sankyo US. Daiichi Sankyo offers independent medical education grants for unsolicited requests for financial support for educational programs with a bona fide medical, scientific, or educational objective.

Independent Grants- Daiichi Sankyo US Funding Education That Ultimately Benefits Patients Daiichi Sankyo, Inc. believes education is a source to accelerating evidence into practice for the best interest of clinical science and to improve patient care. Our commitment is to support independent education and scientific programs that offer fair and balanced, scientifically accurate information.

Independent grants support initiatives with no influence from our organization in either submission, design, or implementation. Grant conduct is required to comply with all expected regulatory requirements. Daiichi Sankyo, Inc. therefore accepts grant applications that are either unsolicited or in response to a Call for Grant Application (CGA) or Requests for Proposals (RFPs).

We invite eligible organizations to access the grant portal for information on currently available CGAs or RFPs. Types of Independent Grants Independent Medical Education Grants Unsolicited requests for financial support for an educational program with a bona fide medical, scientific, or educational objective. Includes accredited certified Continuing Medical Education (CME) or non-CME education.

This category also includes submission for any Healthcare Improvement (HCI)/Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives. Independent Patient Education Grants Unsolicited requests for financial support to eligible organizations and patient advocacy groups for independent patient education.

Scientific Advancement Grants Unsolicited requests for financial support to eligible organizations for clinical scholarships, fellowships or third-party investigator awards. Daiichi Sankyo, Inc.currently accepts requests for independent grants in oncology. Daiichi Sankyo, Inc. is aware of the growing need for support.

Many more requests are received than can be funded, and we regret that we cannot accommodate every request. Every request receives a fair review, but in return we ask that you evaluate whether your request fits within our guidelines for submission.

Independent Grant requests are accepted for review on an ongoing basis and can be submitted at any time, however requests must be received a minimum of 60 days before the first activity start date. When submitting an online application, please be sure that all forms are accurately completed and that all required documents are provided electronically. Any missing or incorrect information may result in delays or rejection of applications.

Please be prepared to include: a Letter of Request (LOR), Needs Assessment or Statement of Need, Educational Objectives, Program Agenda, Outcomes or Assessment Plan, budget for the program and any necessary tax documentation for your organization (i.e., W-9). Notification of Decision: A confirmation email with an identification number will be sent to you almost immediately, but at most, within a few hours of the completed submission.

Once the review process is complete, email notification with the final determination will be sent to the Contact listed on the application. If approved, a separate email with instructions for completing the Letter of Agreement will be sent to the Contact listed on the application.

Independent Medical Education Grants Continuing medical education consists of accredited educational activities which serve to maintain, develop, or increase the knowledge, skills, and professional performance and relationships that a healthcare clinician uses to provide services for patients, the public, or the profession.

The content of CME is that body of knowledge and skills generally recognized and accepted by the profession as within the basic medical sciences, the discipline of clinical medicine, and the provision of health care to the public. Daiichi Sankyo applies the same standards of independence to non-CME grants with regard to content, influence, faculty selection, educational methods, materials, venues and attendees as it does to CME grants.

Examples of non‑CME educational programs that Daiichi Sankyo may consider supporting include, but are not limited to, lectures or other non‑CME educational activities at scientific conferences, non‑CME certified educational grants to patient advocacy groups or professional societies, non‑CME certified disease‑state education and awareness initiatives, health or healthcare‑related public policy initiatives, or other independent Healthcare Improvement (HCI)/Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives.

Educational events or programs that are independent of any Daiichi Sankyo input or influence and focused on education for the patient and/or caregiver. Programs may include, but are not limited to: live patient education events, summits or web-based educational programs. Scientific Advancement Grants Grants provided to advance basic and/or clinical science and are independent of any Daiichi Sankyo input or influence.

Grants are provided to eligible organizations and include clinical scholarships, fellowships or third-party investigator awards. All grants are centralized through the Daiichi Sankyo Office of Grants and Education (OGE). Only the Daiichi Sankyo Grant Review Committee is authorized to approve a CME/Non-CME funding request.

You should not consider a request approved until you receive official written notification from the Daiichi Sankyo OGE acting on behalf of the Daiichi Sankyo Grant Review Committee.
