Indian Environmental General Assistance Program (GAP) is sponsored by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The Indian Environmental General Assistance Program (GAP) provides non-competitive grant funds to tribal governments and intertribal consortia to develop environmental protection programs. The grants support federally authorized EPA regulatory programs as established through joint EPA-Tribal Environmental Plans (ETEPs).
GAP resources should support developing baseline capacities for media-specific environmental protection programs related to the needs of the recipient and to EPA statutory programs, such as managing wastes and water quality.

The guidance identifies Agency policies and recommended procedures for coordinating activities related to assistance agreements awarded under the Indian Environmental General Assistance Program (GAP). GAP Innovations and Investments Report AIEO has completed the Summer 2025 edition of the GAP Innovations and Investments Report .
This summarizes a tiny fraction of the numerous great projects completed by tribes throughout the past year using GAP (General Assistance Program) funding. Also included is some of the initial information gleaned from the first 110 ETEPs (EPA-Tribal Environmental Plans) entered into the GAP Hub, AIEO’s new data management application.
