IHBG-COMP provides competitive grant opportunities to eligible IHBG Formula recipients for eligible housing projects that increase the availability of affordable housing for low-income Tribal families. Both the IHBG Formula program and the IHBG-COMP program are authorized under Title I of the Native American Housing Assistance and Self-Determination Act of 1996, as amended (NAHASDA).
HUD will give priority to construction and rehabilitation projects that will increase the number of housing units available for low-income Indian families to help address the dire housing shortage in Indian Country. Additionally, HUD encourages projects for necessary affordable housing-related infrastructure projects that will enable future construction or rehabilitation.
Eligible Tribes and TDHEs can apply to IHBG-COMP Notices of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) that are published on Grants. gov. NOFOs are subject to annual appropriations. Program updates are provided on this webpage and on Codetalk.
