The NRC is committed to helping Canada and stakeholders during this time of need. We are prioritizing our pandemic response, mandated by the Prime Minister, to address urgent COVID-19 challenges and support Canadian businesses who are developing solutions. In an effort to limit the spread of the virus, 90 percent of NRC staff have transitioned to teleworking. Employees who remain onsite are working on COVID-related programs, and performing critical tasks such as ensuring our buildings are secure, monitoring equipment and facilities, keeping systems running safely, and receiving essential shipments at loading docks on reduced hours.
The NRC remains committed to all of our clients and collaborators, therefore we will continue to carefully consider which facilities need to remain open and which projects are critical to support Canada and Canadians during this difficult time. Industrial Transformation Research Hubs - ARC Research Hub for Supercharging Tropical Aquaculture Through Genetic Solutions is sponsored by Australian Research Council. This project aims to deliver the genetic knowledge to instigate world-leading and highly productive breeding programs for five tropical aquaculture species (barramundi, pearl oyster, prawn, grouper and marine algae) in northern Australia. It will integrate cutting-edge genetic and genomic approaches into innovative aquaculture enterprises and establish a novel understanding of the genetic basis of disease resistance.
Industrial Transformation Research Hubs is a grant from the Australian Research Council (ARC) that funds collaborative research partnerships between Australian universities and industry partners in national priority areas, including renewables and low emissions technologies and value-add in agriculture, forestry, and fisheries. The scheme provides ,000 to million per year for 3 to 5 years, requiring partner cash contributions of at least 75% of ARC funding requested. Partners must match or exceed total ARC funds committed. Applications for the 2027 round close with ARC on November 25, 2026, with announcement anticipated August to September 2027.
