The Innovate Alabama Supplemental Grant Program (Phase I) is a grant from Innovate Alabama that provides additional non-dilutive funding to small businesses that have received an active Phase I federal SBIR or STTR grant. Eligible businesses may receive up to $100,000, representing 50% of their Phase I SBIR or STTR award amount.

The program accelerates innovation in Alabama by extending the runway of proven business models and technologies already validated through the federal SBIR/STTR process. Because funding is non-dilutive, recipients do not exchange equity for the grant. Eligible applicants must be Alabama-based small businesses with an active Phase I or Phase II federal SBIR or STTR award.

Small businesses who have an active Phase I or Phase II Federal Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) or Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) grant are eligible for non-dilutive funding from the Innovate Alabama Supplemental Grant Program. This unique grant program provides support for recipients who do not need to exchange shares of their company for the grant.

Innovate Alabama has awarded more than $17 million in grant funding. That funding supports small businesses and university inventors whose proven business models and technologies will help advance Alabama’s regional and national economic footprint.
