This year CFP celebrates its 75 th anniversary. CFP has long been a supporter of the School of Pharmacy, and Waterloo Pharmacy faculty have received support for research through the CFP Innovation Fund. Founded in 1945, CFP was established at a time when only seven pharmacy schools operated in the Dominion of Canada.
Since then, CFP has supported unifying the pharmacy profession and promoting initiatives that advance the profession. Their support has contributed to the evolution of the pharmacy across the country. David Edwards, Hallman Director of Waterloo Pharmacy, served as the President of the CFP board in 2016 and served as a reviewer of grant proposals for CFP’s Innovation Fund for a number of years.
> CFP continues to be the leading organization in Canada in supporting innovative pharmacy practice research and the results of the research funded by CFP have consistently demonstrated the clinical and economic value of the professional services that pharmacists provide to their patients.
In an evolving profession like pharmacy, effective leadership is critical and the Foundation’s goal to recognize and support leaders in the profession is much appreciated. CFP has also supported the research of numerous Waterloo Pharmacy faculty such as professors Feng Chang, Tejal Patel and Sherilyn Houle. Funded projects explored topics that range from high-risk opioid use to support for the frail elderly to travel medicine.

Waterloo Pharmacy faculty have received this award in the past, and this year's recipient was alumnus Rui Su. Congratulations to CFP on this milestone anniversary!
