Update on Tinker Foundation’s Program Areas - 55 E. 59th Street New York, NY 10022, USA Update on Tinker Foundation’s Program Areas Posted: September 24, 2025 After 15 years and nearly $13 million in strategic grantmaking, Tinker Foundation will conclude its Sustainable Resource Management (SRM) program area in 2025 to focus resources within Democratic Governance and Education .

This decision emerged from a comprehensive, year-long strategic review in which our board, leadership, and staff explored how Tinker can achieve the greatest impact supporting civil society organizations in Latin America. As a foundation working across the region, concentrating Tinker’s grantmaking in these two areas will enhance our effectiveness as funders and partners.

Our Commitments Moving Forward: Honor existing SRM grant agreements Maintain staff availability to past and present grantees Deepen focus on Democratic Governance and Education program areas Prioritize funding to locally led organizations throughout Latin America “This strategic evolution positions Tinker to be a stronger partner to Latin American civil society organizations working on education and governance issues at a critical moment in the region.

By concentrating our resources in these areas, we can develop deeper expertise, support larger cohorts of organizations, and respond more effectively to increasing requests for support.
