CIPD offers grants to support teaching and learning - News - Illinois State Illinois State instructors can be apply for teaching grants this fall. The Center for Integrated Professional Development is offering two grants this fall to support instructors at Illinois State University.
The University Teaching Grant and the Instructional Innovation Grant are open to all tenure-track faculty, non-tenure-track faculty, and full-time staff with teaching responsibilities at the University. These grants have supported a broad range of educational experiences at Illinois State. In Fiscal Year 2026, $29,705 was awarded to instructors.
In total, eight University Teaching Grants and 22 Instructional Innovation Grants were awarded. Projects spanned Communication Sciences and Disorders, Kinesiology and Recreation, Special Education, Graphic Design, Mathematics, Teaching and Learning, and Family and Consumer Sciences. Awards across six academic colleges demonstrated the breadth and depth of meaningful teaching initiatives at the University.
University Teaching Grant The University Teaching Grant supports projects that apply evidence-based pedagogy in courses and programs at the University. The program provides up to $3,500 for an individual instructor or single departmental team, or up to $5,000 for a cross-disciplinary team or a team that includes a student as a partner.
Grant applicants must address one or both of the following dimensions of teaching and learning in their proposal: culturally responsive and equitable teaching or innovative teaching practices. Proposals that demonstrate sustainable and interdisciplinary benefits to teaching and learning at Illinois State will have priority for funding. Applicants should submit their online application by Tuesday, September 15.
Instructional Innovation Grant Instructional Innovation Grants provide up to $500 in financial assistance to instructors for professional development and curricular activities. Projects should demonstrate how they will enhance inclusive teaching excellence by funding course materials, travel expenses, conference fees, and guest speaker stipends. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
