Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities - Alaska Mental Health Trust Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities The Trust awards mini grants with an annual limit of one application of up to $2,500 per beneficiary depending upon need. Mini grants are only awarded to an agency on behalf of a beneficiary.
This grant program provides Trust beneficiaries with a broad range of equipment, supplies and services to improve their quality of life, increase independent functioning and help them attain and maintain healthy and productive lifestyles.
These may include, but are not limited to, therapeutic devices, access to special health care, and other supplies or services that might improve an individual’s ability to function in the community and become self-sufficient. On May 16, 2025, the Trust updated both the Behavioral Health and Intellectual and developmental Disabilities mini grant programs. The eligibility and general process for the mini grants did not change .
More information about the updates can be found here . The Trust no longer requires documentation regarding the diagnosis or other Protected Health Information (PHI) regarding the applicant individual. Do not include documentation such as diagnosis forms, letters of support, or medical records to an application.
Any such documentation will be deleted from the grant application and not considered. People with intellectual and developmental disabilities Youth enrolled in early intervention or infant learning programs Who can apply: Applications will be accepted from organizations working with Trust beneficiaries. The role of the applicant organization is to serve as a fiscal agent in administering grant funds.
Applications received directly from individuals or their family members will not be considered. Mini grants are awarded monthly. Applications must be received by 5pm Alaska Time on the 15 th of each month. If the deadline falls on a weekend or holiday, the deadline rolls 5pm Alaska Time on the next business day.
