IARPA offers the unique opportunity to take risks with science.... to identify and explore multiple pathways to solve a problem. - Dr. Carl Rubino, Program Manager IARPA's collaboration with Intelligence Community (IC) partners ensures our ability to address cross-agency challenges, leveraging both operational and research and development expertise from across the IC.
Analysis focuses on maximizing insights from the massive, disparate, unreliable, and dynamic data that are, or could be, available to analysts, in a timely manner. Collection aims to improve the value of collected data by developing new sensor and transmission technologies, collection techniques that more precisely target desired information, and means for collecting from previously inaccessible sources.
IARPA's mission is to push the boundaries of science to develop solutions that empower the Intelligence Community and ensure more robust support to national security. We also facilitate the transition of research results to our IC customers for operational application.

IARPA released five AI-focused research programs under its Emerging Technology Accelerator framework, announced 29 April 2026 after a January proposers' day attended by more than 550 participants, with opportunities posted on SAM.gov under the identifier DOI-ETA-FY26-30. The five programs collectively seek to extract actionable insights from complex sources including geospatial imagery, circuit design, linguistic trends and open-source video. ARCADE targets electrical circuit design, deploying an AI-driven knowledge assistant able to ingest schematics and technical datasheets. COSMIC develops methodology to leverage commercial remote sensing and open-source geolocation information to generate pseudo-persistent data, rapidly integrating multiple sources into a unified geospatial framework; its stated deadline of 30 June 2026 has passed. DECIPHER addresses linguistic analysis of novel and low-frequency terms including emerging slang, jargon, coded language and undefined acronyms. LOCUS improves geolocation capability beyond current intelligence community baselines, and MOVES explores neurological diagnostic AI systems. The Accelerator framework itself is the notable element: it is designed to bridge the gap between emerging solutions and successful operational application, and awards are made as Prototype Other Transaction Agreements through a competitive white-paper-first process on a rolling basis, which is faster and more accessible to non-traditional performers than a conventional IARPA program BAA. No deadline is recorded here because the solicitation operates on a rolling basis with program-specific dates, some of which have passed; applicants should check SAM.gov under DOI-ETA-FY26-30 for the programs still accepting white papers.
