Baldrick’s Foundation International Scholar Award supports researchers from low- and middle-income countries who are training to advance childhood cancer research in their home countries. The program provides up to USD 110,000 per year for three years , with the possibility of a two-year extension based on progress.

Scholars complete 2–3 years of training at a sponsoring institution in a high-income country, followed by the implementation of a pediatric oncology research project at their institution of origin. Applicants must hold a PhD, MD, DO, or equivalent degree by the award start date. Must have completed at least two years of pediatric oncology training or a fellowship .

Must be from a low- or middle-income country (as classified by the World Bank). Must return to their country of origin to continue research upon completion of training. The sponsoring institution must be located in a high-income country (e.g., USA, Canada, UK).

A research proposal related to pediatric oncology. A letter of support from both the sponsoring institution and the home institution. Amount: Up to USD 110,000 per year (Years 1–3); potential extension of up to USD 115,000 per year (Years 4–5).

Term: 3 years + possible 2-year extension (based on performance). Start Date: July 1, 2026. Uses: Salary, fringe benefits, tuition, research supplies, and justified travel.

Indirect Costs: Not allowed. Special Focus Areas: Brain tumors (e.g., AT/RT, DIPG/DMG, GBM), Burkitt lymphoma, and extrarenal rhabdoid tumors. Letter of Intent (LOI): December 8, 2025 (5 PM ET).

Full Proposal: February 27, 2026 (5 PM ET). Decision Announcement: June 26, 2026. Award Start: July 1, 2026.
