Jeanne and Charles Rider Endowment for Support of Research on the Biotechnology of Food Crops The purpose of this endowment shall be to support College of Agricultural Sciences faculty in their biotechnology research and teaching programs that give promise of improving upon food crop production and quality while protecting the quality and safety of the environment.
Submissions from teams of investigators/instructors are welcome, but a faculty member is limited to one submission, either solo or as a team member. $6,800 available for 2026/2027 fiscal year. The proposal should include: Proposed project with objectives and expected outcomes (2 pages maximum; page limit does not include budget justification).
Include how results from the investment of Nesbitt funds are likely to lead to additional funding from other sources. Brief budget and justification for the expected use of the funds within the time-frame of July 1, 2026, through May 31, 2027. Include the budget justification at the end of the proposal narrative (not included in the page limit).
Use the provided budget template in InfoReady competition to upload a budget spreadsheet. Funds cannot be used for faculty supplemental salary. Other personnel is permitted and will be charged the appropriate fringe amount.
Please note that these funds must be expended by May 31, 2027, to allow for clearing the budget by June 30. Any remaining funds will revert to our office and will be used per donor guidelines. Proposals must be submitted through the InfoReady system by midnight Friday, April 17 , 2026 .
Proposals will be reviewed by the program administrators and a committee of peers with consultation from appropriate department heads or faculty members as needed.
