From Homeless to Home. From Surviving to Thriving. The Jeremiah Fund provides up to 12 months of rental assistance to homeless individuals and families in the San Diego area — helping them move from crisis to stability and from stability to independence.

The Jeremiah Fund was born from real conversations with people ready to rebuild their lives, but facing one critical barrier. After completing a 12-month recovery program, securing jobs, and preparing for independence, nearly every graduate shared the same reality: They weren’t afraid of failing, they were afraid of not having a place to live. The biggest need was clear: affordable housing and short-term rent support.

That’s why the Jeremiah Fund exists, to bridge the gap between recovery and stability, and give people a real chance to move forward. The Jeremiah Fund was created after direct conversations with individuals graduating from recovery programs. In May 2025 , board members attended the San Diego Rescue Mission Spring Academy Graduation, where 48 men and women completed a 12-month faith-based recovery program.

Those conversations directly shaped the creation of the Jeremiah Fund. How the Jeremiah Fund Works Our program supports individuals after they complete a structured recovery program. Step 1 — Recovery & Transformation Participants must complete or have completed their recovery program if addiction has been an issue.

They should be activity involved in improving their situation through local outreach and rehabilitation programs.

One such program is the San Diego Rescue Mission’s - Mission Academy, a 12-month faith-based rehabilitation program that provides: Job training and employment support Housing during the program Life coaching and personal development Participants must meet certain requirements: Some of these programs have been operating since 1955 and have proven success in helping individuals rebuild their lives.

Step 2 — Transition to Independent Living After graduation, individuals must transition into the real world and secure independent housing.

Individual donations and grant funding provide the resources needed to support people right now, helping cover a portion of rent and ease the transition into stable housing. At the same time, a portion of funds are strategically invested to generate ongoing returns, creating a self-sustaining cycle of support.
