Jewish Community Grants (Menorah Heritage Foundation)

Jewish Community Grants (Menorah Heritage Foundation) is sponsored by Menorah Heritage Foundation (MHF). The Menorah Heritage Foundation offers grants to support health and human services needs within the Jewish community. They seek organizations with a history of compassion and excellence that address client needs, possess strong leadership, and collaborate with other providers.

APPLY FOR A GRANT - Menorah Heritage Foundation Please contact MHF at least two weeks prior to submission deadlines if you are a new applicant, or are applying for a program not previously funded. We want to ensure your organization is applying in the correct grant cycle, verify eligibility, and understands our requirements. Applicants are expected to limit their grant application to one MHF grant cycle.

We are available to counsel you on which of our four grant cycles is the best fit for your organization and your request. Please review our application criteria as well. Our Healthy for Life cycle seeks to support programs that proactively improve health and wellness by fostering transformational change in individual or community behaviors.

This is a curated cycle. If your organization has a program to discuss, please contact us prior to applying to make sure an application is a good fit. The ideal grant in this category would impact mind, body, and spirit.

We provide seed money to innovative, trailblazing programs that will draw other funders as the programs become established. Organizations should view MHF as a limited-term source of financial support for such proactive programs.

Unrestricted Operating Support Cycle Our Unrestricted Operating Support cycle supports core organization operating expenses, placing a priority on organizations providing emergency services and assistance, shelter, safety-net health care, children’s services, and other crisis-based human services.

Core operating support is defined as expenses incurred for day-to-day operations such as: Utilities, accounting services, audit, technology, facility maintenance, and professional development. Eligible organizations must be based in and provide the majority of their services in the metro Kansas City area.

The following organizations are not eligible to apply in the Unrestricted Operating Support Cycle: colleges and universities, hospitals, K-12 schools, arts organizations, organizations that require or advocate religious activity as part of or in exchange for services, organizations with annual budgets in excess of approximately $5 million dollars, and local chapters of regional or national organizations who cannot provide local financial information and/or whose local operating budgets exceed $5 million dollars.

Our Jewish Community cycle includes grants for health-focused programs promoting short-term and long-term physical or mental health, programs which foster or maintain a vibrant Jewish community, and core support for organizations in the Jewish Community. Our Older Adult Grants include special initiatives and core operating support.

Special Initiatives are invited proposals only that seek to convene regional stakeholders addressing the important issues facing older adults who wish to age in the community. These issues include housing, caregiving, transportation, and social/civic enjoyment. Our Older Adult core operating grants support core operating expenses for organizations that provide programs and services promoting social and civic engagement of older adults.

Core operating support is defined as expenses incurred for day-to-day operations such as: Utilities, accounting services, audit, technology, facility maintenance, and professional development. Older Adult Special Initiative Grants are limited to invited, collaborative proposals that convene Kansas City metro area stakeholders addressing important issues facing older adults who wish to age in the community.

These issues include, but are not limited to, access to community-based services (healthcare, housing, care management, transportation, etc.) and social/civic engagement. Change this in Theme Options Change this in Theme Options
