Juneau Hope Endowment and City & Borough of Juneau (CBJ) Social Service Grant Program is sponsored by Juneau Community Foundation and City & Borough of Juneau. This collaborative grant program strengthens critical health and social services in Juneau, with a significant portion of funding focused on preventing and addressing homelessness and supporting essential housing and shelter services.

Juneau Hope Endowment /CBJ Social Service Grant Program - Juneau Community Foundation Juneau Hope Endowment /CBJ Social Service Grant Program The Juneau Hope Endowment was established in September 2014 with the intent of supporting 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations and government agencies that provide programs and services in the Juneau community to address the following social issues: Relief for Victims of Violence In 2015, the City & Borough of Juneau started adding their social service block grant funds to the Hope Fund grant program.

Annually, the Foundation will award approximately $2. 5 million in grants to organizations and agencies that address these social issues. The Foundation seeks to fund the highest priority social service needs in Juneau.

As part of the grant making process, the Foundation convenes community meetings with local social service providers. The purpose of these meetings is to establish priority needs and to encourage cooperative proposals. In addition, the Foundation utilizes a Professional Advisory Committee to review all proposals and make funding recommendations to the Foundation’s Board of Directors.

CBJ Social Service Grant Funding The City and Borough of Juneau Social Service Grant Program was established by the CBJ Assembly, which provides annual appropriations to the program. It is anticipated that the Assembly will provide funding for this grant award cycle.

These grants are for 501(c)3 non-profit organizations to support services to people in Juneau in these areas: Access to Health Care (affordable healthcare, insurance coverage) Substance Abuse (treatment/prevention) Infants and Toddlers (prenatal care, pediatric care, nutrition) Seniors (access to healthcare, prescription medicine, mobility, end of life care, adult daycare) People with Disabilities (access to care, integration into community) Readiness to Learn (literacy fundamentals for all ages) Early Elementary Performance (reading, writing) Success in High School (dropout/graduation rate, disproportionally) Community Building in Schools (student volunteers, parent engagement) Access to Employment (access to childcare, quality of care) Shelter and Housing (supported/transitional housing emergency shelter, cost of living) Poverty (food, clothing, shelter) Young Adult Stability (employment, teen pregnancy) Family Stability (adult/mentor support and availability, domestic violence) 2026 Hope/CBJ Social Service Grant Process In 2026, there will be a single application process for all health and social service nonprofit organizations seeking funding.

org Grant awards will be announced in May. Reporting Requirements For 2025 & 2026 Grantees Interim and Final Reports are required on all Juneau Hope Endowment/CBJ Social Service grants by 6:00 p. m .

on the following dates. January 31, 2026: Interim Reports for all 2025 grants are due August 31, 2026: Final Reports for all 2025 grants are due January 31, 2027: Interim Reports for all 2026 grants are due August 31, 2027: Final Reports for all 2026 grants are due All 2025 grantees must email their interim and final reports to grants@juneaucf. org .

Both interim and final reports will have a narrative and financial aspect to them ( information for both is below; please use the provided Financial Report Form ). These reports are required to be eligible for a 2026 grant from the Juneau Hope Endowment/CBJ Social Service Grant Program. Guidelines for the reports are below.

Section 1: Click HERE for Narrative Report (2 page limit) Using a separate document or the Narrative Report form linked above, expand on the Project Outline submitted with your application (or as amended through subsequent discussions between the Foundation and your organization) by detailing the measurable outputs and outcomes of your program due to the grant you received, e.g., number of people served, number of nights housed, number of people trained, etc. for major activities listed in the Project Outline.

Limit your narrative to 2 pages and include: Organization name, project contact and contact info, reporting period, and indicate whether it is your Interim or Final report. Description of modifications, if any, you made in the activities proposed, reasons and implications for the project.

Discussion of what worked and what did not work, difficulties you encountered, recommendations/suggestions you may have concerning this type of project in the future. A minimum of two stories highlighting people who benefitted from the services this grant helped provide and pictures of your organization in action.

Section 2: Click HERE for Financial Report Form Time period covered by the report (through the end of December for interim reports; end of June for the August final reports). Accounting of project income and expense formatted to show budget, actual, and any remaining balance.

Please work from the budget you submitted or any approved changes to that budget Provide a short narrative explaining any budget changes or items of note, including revisions to the approved budget for this grant. A statement that affirms the funds were used solely for their intended purpose, signed by person who has responsibility for ensuring this is so. Email all grant report forms to grants@juneaucf.

org CBJ Utility Waiver Funding The CBJ Utility Waiver program provides funding for sewer and water utility waivers submitted by local health and social service 501(c)3 non-profit agencies in Juneau that provide transitional overnight accommodations. Organizations applying for this funding must demonstrate that they have provided these services for at least one year.

Awards are determined each year by the end of April, however funding is not available until after July 15. Awards must be expended by the end of June 30 the following year. Applications due Friday March 6, 2026 by 6:00 p.

org Additional Grant Program Information We attempt to announce all grant amounts by early May. However, City and Borough of Juneau Funding may not be determined until late May or June. Grant announcements tied to this funding will be made as soon as funding is confirmed.

Please note that grant funds are typically not available until later in July. Hope Endowment/CBJ Social Service and Utility Waiver funds cannot be used for capital projects. There is no set minimum or maximum grant funding level.
