Each outreach fund engages volunteers to increase awareness, provide opportunities for involvement and raise funds to award grants and sustain programs in their particular areas of interest. The community outreach funds are hosted at the San Antonio Area Foundation but are directed by volunteer leaders from the community, each with their own independent steering committees and initiatives.

The mission of the San Antonio Area African American Community Fund (SAAAACF) is to promote and advocate for financial philanthropy to enhance the quality of living of the African American community in the San Antonio Area.

The San Antonio Area Foundation has partnered with San Antonio Area African American Community Fund (SAAAACF) and Community Information Now to publish a report describing the state of the African American community in Bexar County.

The report will address various indicators over topics with in the San Antonio African American community such as population, education, employment and income, business and workforce development, health, housing, justice, and social issues.

SAAAACF oversees three different charitable funds to which individuals, foundations and corporations can contribute: A designated SAAAACF Fund addressing people in need of legal, social justice support in the San Antonio Area African American Community. Provides annual funding for the execution of SAAAACF goals and activities.

This fund supports the SAAAACF Grant Program for nonprofits, the African American Dream Maker Fund, and other giving programs. The fund also provides the budget for the major fundraising events including the Renaissance with the Stars Gala, Rising Professions Juneteenth Celebration and Fundraiser and other community engagements.

A permanent invested pool of money to provide a long-term source of income in perpetuity to support SAAAACF mission. It builds the philanthropy pathway to sustain the grant giving to nonprofits, resources for African American owned businesses, community events and other serving initiatives. saaaacf. org . The mission of the Latino Foundation of San Antonio (Latino Foundation) is to enhance Latino economic, cultural, civic and philanthropic leadership that reflects the population of the Latino community in San Antonio.

The Latino Foundation supports four leadership programs to realize its mission: The representation of Latinos at the board and C-suite level of private corporations remains marginal at the local and national level.

The Latino Foundation is partnering with the University of Texas-San Antonio’s Center for Professional Excellence to provide comprehensive guidance, education, professional development and mentoring to aspiring Latino leaders in the San Antonio community as they pursue both career excellence on their path to senior management positions within their organization and corporate board positions supporting external organizations and their community.

Arts and Culture Leadership The Latino Foundation is committed to celebrating culture through the arts, music, and literature of the Latino community. The LFSA board of advisors has established a grant making process that will distribute $5,000 grants to cultural arts organizations.

The board has determined that Latino-serving (more than 51%) will be a critical factor in the grant review process as well as diversity at the board and senior leadership level. The Latino Foundation is interested in the training of the next generation of Latinos for civic leadership. The Latino Foundation will be supporting internship programs for Latinos at the state and federal level.

The Women & Girls Development Fund (WGDF) is a community outreach fund of the San Antonio Area Foundation that promotes philanthropy and supports nonprofit organizations serving women and girls in the greater San Antonio area. Created in 2009, this fund intends to build a community of women who bring positive change through participation as leaders in their schools, jobs, in communities and eventually through philanthropy.

The Women & Girls Development Fund receives administrative support from the San Antonio Area Foundation. All grant decisions are made by the fund through their designated representatives. Applicants and grantees of the Area Foundation’s annual responsive grants may apply to this outreach fund without regard of past or future Area Foundation applications.

The Women & Girls Development Fund’s objective is to empower girls and women to advance as leaders in our community. Through our grants, the fund supports nonprofits that promote a broader concept of leadership, one free of gender bias that speaks to empowerment of others and includes self-leadership as a foundation for the leadership of others.

The Women and Girls Development Fund is pleased to announce the opening of the 2023 grant application. With these grants, WGDF aims to: Fund one $10,000 grant for innovative programs and strategies that focus on the leadership development and/or mentorship of girls grades 6-12 and/or Fund one $10,000 grant for innovative programs and strategies that focus on leadership development and/or mentorship of women 18 and over.

The objective of the WGDF is to empower girls and women to advance as leaders in our community. Tax-exempt 501 (c) (3) organizations with local chapters in Bexar or contiguous counties are invited to apply. The deadline for grant applications is has passed.
