The K9 LEAP Grant is an internal grant available to law enforcement agencies for the purchase costs of a canine, training course, certification, and equipment package. It supports both single-purpose (narcotics or explosives) and dual-purpose K9s.

The K9 LEAP Grant Programs primary objective is to assist Law Enforcement Agencies overcome budget restrictions, and the often times overwhelming costs associated with acquiring and deploying Highly Skilled, Operationally Efficient and Effective Police Service K9 Units. Funding assistance is available to approved Law Enforcement Agencies as outlined below.

Current availability status of the K9 LEAP Grant Program: GRANT STATUS: ACTIVE / APPROVED FOR 2026-27 K9 UNIT FUNDING Grant Programs Available: For More Information - CLICK HERE The K9 LEAP Grant is an internal Grant of $2,500. 00 to $4,500. 00.

The Maximum grant assistance allowance is 75% (three quarters of the total start-up cost) applicable towards the purchase costs of the Police Service Dog, Handler Training Course, National Certification (Approved by SCOTUS), and all Equipment from K9 Working Dogs International, for Law Enforcement Agencies that qualify in the below listed States: Applications are processed within approximately 10-15 working days.

Please contact the K9 LEAP Grant with any questions by emailing K9Grant@k9wdi. com Grant Allowance Award Range: Minimum of $2,500. 00 up to a maximum of 75% of total cost of new K9 & Handler Training Course (not to Exceed a total cost of $35,000.

00). Note: Agency MUST contribute a minimum of 25% of the total cost for K9 Acquisition & Handler Training / Certification. This Agency Contribution cannot be attained by a "Grant Award".

i.e. 25% or more must be sourced from Agency Budget, Drug Fund, Asset Forfeiture, Community Donations, etc. the remaining balance of 75% may be covered by combining multiple Grants awarded to applying Agency. If Awarded this Grant: The Newly Acquired K9 & Approved Official Handler Training Course MUST be conducted WITHIN 6 Months from the date of Formal Award Notification.

NOTE: NO OBLIGATION IS BEING MADE BY APPLICANT AGENCY UNTIL FORMAL AWARD NOTIFICATION RECEIVES FINAL AGENCY APPROVAL.
